^^ What about Covic? I reckon he was great for you guys when there, and he's been excellent this season for victory (minus that red card, not totally his fault). he's better than Kennedy.
It's quite a list: Carle Bridge Reddy Musialik Necevski Durante vs Sasho Bridges Brockie Topor-Stanley Byun Payne Miligan Nash Rooney Zadkovich Ozbey Spencer or: ------------|Nash| Zadkovich--Milligan--NTS---Byun -------------Spencer Rooney---Bridges---Sasho---Brockie --------------Payne
Not sure if this got shown on TV last night as I was at the game, but the Squadron pulled out the big guns last night with the Tifo. They have had some cracking banners this season, but don't know how they will top this one. (hopefully the photos work). Great game, I think we got very lucky when Topor bought Archie down in the box, but I can't help but wonder if there was some hesitation to give it given how easily Archie has been going down this season. As a Jets supporter I still think it was a penalty and Topor would have been lucky to stay on the park.
Thats fantastic banner, simple big and bold, really in the oppostions face, I hope they do this one again if they get ahome final. Nice looking crowd too, this is agood indication that the crowds will be around this size from now on and even more, as long as the Jets keep playing good.
It was good to see a healthy crowd turn out. Hopefully they've got the taste now and keep coming back.
great crowd for newy.. What is even better is the average of 12-14k they have been getting. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right, and the rest of the league should take notice.
Having over 10,000 members helps with the crowds, as do the cheap seats. We get pretty good coverage in the media up here and now the Jets and the Knights are essentially one club there are a lot more people following both sports rather than stick to one. Here is a link to some news coverage from last night. http://soulstream1.sptel.com.au/NBN_News//jetsvictory041211.wmv
IMO changing the strip colours to the 'traditional' Newcastle colours was a good move. Not only does the strip actually match the seats in the stadium, but it would help draw a connection between those Knights fans who didn't really care much about football and the Jet. Thoughts from any Newy people??? It'd be interesting to see how many Knights shirts were in the crowd last night...
I grew up in Newy, and I'd say there would be more people who usually go watch the Knights turn up for the Jets as well, than the other way around. And the knights under Tinkler will definitely revert back to the stripe shirt design like the one the Jets have got, when they have finished with the current one, in 2014. It probably wont be identical to the Jets, but something similar.
Maybe now the FFA will realise that people won't just stand around if they screw them over like what they did with the price of Tinkler's licence.
Sounding more like a game of brinkmanship. Especially given the timing of this announcement just after the West Sydney team was announced and around the time of awards night and finals. Not to mention when TV rights negotiations are approaching.
FFA have to cave. They just parted with their contingency fund to pay for the Unicorns. To force Tinkler to field a team they'd have to take him to court, win before October and if by some miracle those two things happened he'd be free to sabotage the Jets on and off-field just like Palmer.
Problem is, they also don't have $4m to make it all good with Natho (and that's just the tip of the iceberg as far as owner grievances with FFA go).
To be honest, I think he should back away. His last four years have undone almost all the good work of 2004-08. FFA has alienated just about everyone who ever bid for an A-League licence and made anyone thinking about bidding think twice. FFA needs the owners onside right now more than the owners need FFA - their whole revenue stream vanishes if next year they can't front up to the networks with ten teams. Despite that, they've let the relationship get so toxic that HSG just yanked out the plug. This has been largely down to their terrible management style, inability to account for what they charged HSG and refusal to meet owners half-way on any other issues. They've had so many wake-up calls on this and still, here we are.
Central Coast's investors were already slowing things down, West Sydney might be a moot point. As well, Tink's just made it easier to lowball us in the negotiations next year, regardless of what happens in the next week or so.
