I just got my season pass a few weeks ago along with the other 27 in the group I go with, so hopefully we can improve on third last season.

Pretty sure that eagleton is off to the Mariners fpr next season.

I was disappointed to see him go, he was one player you could count on to give everything he had.

I'd be bitterly disappointed if i was a Newcastle fan in losing Milton Rodriguez. That boy had some talent. I'd love to see him at Qld.

Supposedly there is still a chance of him coming back.

The funny thing is, he was upset at being used as an impact player, but since he went back to América de Cali, thats exactly how he was used. He really did struggle here to last a full 90mins, but when he and Carle clicked it was great to watch.

I think the fact that neither he nor his wife speak english may be the hurdle that stops his return.

That said, the Argentinian player prieto is supposed to be pretty good, there is a bit of footage of him on you tube. And there are pretty strong rumours we will end up with two more south americans.

I'd love to see Rodriguez back, just because of the way the crowd and kids took to him. That was really one of the great things to come from last season.

But if Van Egmond ends up signing three South Americans as is reported, then I think Rodrigues (as much as I want him to be one of those three) is replaceable.

Actually, the biggest thing I am looking forward to this season is seeing Okon take off from his end of season form. I think the purchase of spenser will really allow Okon a bit more space to push into midfield when he has the ball, and as we saw at the end of the season, when he does that he is dangerous.

    News on Carle....

Carle conceded he would consider a move overseas when the transfer window opens next month, even though he has two years left on his Jets contract.

"I love the place, I love the club, but if a move did come overseas I'd seriously consider it," he said. "It would have to be good for the club, and good for myself … at the moment there's no nibbles, but the transfer window does open soon, and I'm hoping something does come up. It's a big goal of mine to be in the future plans for the Socceroos."

I was just going to post something about Carle. That really is bad news for not only the Jets, but also the A-League.

I don't necessarily see going somewhere like the swiss league as rumoured, to be a step forward. The only thing it promises is more competative games for him.

I was still amazed though that he was overlooked for so much of the Asian qualifying campaign.

I would love to see him be a regular in the squad, but if players have to leave australia to do that, it can't be good for the A-League.

Honestly Carle is seriously overrating himself. If he was good enough to be playing overseas, he'd be overseas now and not playing State League Football.

Thats the whole thing Carle is arguing, that he isn't getting enough games in the A-League to stay match fit.

I don't think I have read anywhere, where he has rubbished the quality of the a-league.

If players leave here just to get more games (not for a more quality league), then that is a huge blow.

I can't see an issue with him playing State League with Marconi in the off season to try and stay match fit.

Jade North has been training with Sydney FC to do the same thing.

Well, Carle was named in the Asian Cup Squad, hopefully he goes on to perform well.

Not much in the paper in the last week about the jets though.

Looks like Carle will be leaving australia (on a $500,000+ transfer fee) to an unnamed european club in the UEFA cup next year.

The following signings were confirmed on the news tonight though,
    - Jorge Drovandi (Rosario Central - Argentina) agrees to terms with the Jets.
    - Flavio Barros (Racing Ferrol - Spain) arriving for a trial on Thursday.
    - Jade North meeting with GVE tomorrow to sort out final terms of contract.
    - Peter Eleftherkaris on a 2 week trial with the Jets

I still haven't seen anything to say prieto has definitely put pen to paper, but now Carle is probably going, we need to make sure we sign him and have it locked in.

It's disappointing that whenever a player starts to get a name in the wider public we lose them. I'm not sure if it's the best time for him to go, maybe he should stay one more season, after-all with the WCQ starting next year, there will be a heavy A-League contigent for the early rounds.

But i guess if the right club and the right offer is here now then he should take it

Australia star Nick Carle to Turkish champion Fenerbahce.....
The 25-year-old midfield player, is undergoing a medical in Istanbul and may sign with the club before the end of the week.

I think it is pretty much a done deal. The squad there looks good, I just hope Carle makes the starting squad. Good luck to him and hopefully we see him come back to the gold jersey at some point in the future.

At this point I just hope prieto can fill his shoes, although I was really looking forward to seeing prieto and Carle on the pitch together.

The newspaper and news in Newcastle all say he is already in istanbul for a medical.

As far as we are being told in Newcastle, he is as good as gone.

Do you know what the transfer fee was??

Am I correct reading the club website (my translation is probably pretty bad), that the transfer fee was 1 million Euro???

If so that is great news for the Jets.
