New Jersey begins gay 'weddings' I guess we can expect some form of divine retribution at any moment now.
Even Pat Robertson would say you guys might get off on this issue. You've already paid too much, what with the toilet paper taxes, runny egg bans, toxic waste dumps...

"Maxie was taken to see Santa, and had her picture taken, just like you would take a child's," Calogero said. "That dog was just as much a part of the family as the kids were."" If kids had been shot, family would have requested $1 million each.

no but seriously.... Hillsborough considering same-sex classrooms http://www.c-n.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070221/NEWS/702210308
He gives having four jobs a bad name. Perhaps it would have been ok if he actually worked at one. Supposedly has a dozen relatives on the state payroll as well. In other news, AC has competition: http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-11/1175147226160840.xml&coll=1 "$500 million Jersey gambling ring busted" "Authorities were seeking ... former state Assemblyman Raul "Rudy" Garcia, a one-time mayor of Union City.
http://www.nj.com/newslogs/jjournal/index.ssf?/mtlogs/njo_jjupdate/archives/2007_03.html#246493 Lead article about the new Red Bull Park: "the team, and its fans, may have to wait until the 2009 season to enjoy the new digs." Then the usual: zoning board member/school teacher part of gambling ring; fight between mayor & city clerk/school board president inside city hall, etc. Everybody seems to have two public jobs!
Two Star-Ledger articles today which nicely sum up the state. DOT chief urges lawmakers to consider highway lease idea State legislators offer Paper Mill cash, eventually So the state is in huge debt, and responds by giving away more money, in a bipartisan fashion no less.
Gov. Jon Corzine suffers a broken leg in crash on the Garden State Parkway. Not sure yet on the circumstances.
No, he broke his leg falling off the boardwalk in Cape May, or so was said at the time. Possibly not true in light of him being involved in an affair with another man at the time.
Out of the box he started battling the legislature over property tax reform and I think he was in the right. That and i saw him at a conference on development a cople of months ago. He was articulate and well reasoned. Plus for the most part I thought his ideas were both sound and practical.
That went nowhere though, just like usual. How much of that is his fault and how much is the legislature's fault is a debatable question. I agree he's pretty articulate and well reasoned.
Sounds like he wasn't wearing his seat belt. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18081876/ "Corzine ... had a broken sternum, a broken collarbone, a slight fracture of his lower vertebrae, a broken left leg, six broken ribs on each side and a laceration on his head ... it was unclear whether the governor was wearing his seat belt"
90%+ with the Legislature. Corzine can't introduce bills. This year was a huge learning experience for him -- he has to break the Democratic machine to get this done. He'd be better-off with a Republican legislature.
The NJ governor is considered the most powerful of any state in the USA. He is the only statewide elected official & appoints or nominates all statewide & many county officials. Corzine was bored in the US Senate & wanted to run things. He's now learning that even the king has to deal with the nobility (state senators & representatives), who represent 40 legislative districts, each with its own agenda. "Senatorial courtesy" & the legislative process stand in the way of the Governor's Agenda. Perhaps he's hoping for a Chavez-like referendum permitting him to rule by decree, once he recovers from his preventable injuries.
