I thought they may have, but I wasn't too sure.

That'll teach me for being too lazy to check.

I believe Heart's pretty official. In fact I'd go further and say that they never would really consider any other name even though you could smear shit on the wall and find a better thing to call a Football team.

That looks like a logo for a Japanese superhero.

'Heart' is a pretty poor name when you consider that the majority of any team's future supporters are going to be young teenage boys who are probably already derided for liking 'grass ballet' by their rugby- and footy-playing peers.

Eh, it's the best of a bad bunch.

Once they ********ed up by not going with 'United' or 'City' or 'Real Club Deportivo' they were opening the doorway to a galaxy of shit names and we can at least be thankful that it's a dual abstract/concrete noun.

I dont that logo will really go down to well in boggerball loving melbourne, that H in the logo looks way too much like a set of rugby league or union posts

It's more than meets the eye.

One could say that the Heart team will have a lot in disguise.

I cant see this flying for long, its just too simple and garish, in your face, it is obviously some faggy designers wet dream, it has no real substance to it. it is quirky, and it doesnt really say much.
People are looking at tradition more these days, and the Heart have gone completely the wrong way with this.

What a terrible logo. They are targetting viduka and have skoko as a back up option.

The best thing they could have done was be based out of the northen suburbs and re did epping stadium into a 20,000 seater and they would have had a decent following. Carn't see people jumping ship now. I'll be staying a victory man.

    Re: The Melbourne 2 Thread

you have an epping in Melbourne too?
So do we, funily enough also in our northern suburbs.
And yes the heart should move out of the cbd of melbourne, and spread the football around somewhere else, you have everything in the cbd.

    Suggested nicknames:

    Heart
The Sashes (if they adapt a variation of River Plate's home uniform)
The Sleeves/The Red Sleeves (if they use red raglan sleeves [with an optional red sash] as part of their home uniform)
    The Bots
The Autobots (can also be a supporters group name)

    The Farts
    Rats
    Coronary FC
    Transformers

    Re: The Melbourne 2 Thread

Are there any Heart supporters yet?
I cant see them really getting above 9,000 if their lucky for all their home games, except for when they play Victory, which will then probably be the largest attended game of the ALeague, as it will be just in reality another home game for the victory fans, lets see 8,000 heart supporters plus 22,000 Victory supporters, so around 30,000 for that one.
Early days but, the Heart will probably attract more supporters, they will probably end up with about 12-15,000 heart supporters, and 20-25,000 for the victory, for the next ten years anyway.
But their off to a shocking start with the name and logo, talk about crueling their chances.

I think they went too silly with the marketing, they should have just kept it nice and simple, kept the colours and just called themselves Melbourne City.

    Re: The Melbourne 2 Thread

I actually thought they should have been based in the Western suburbs and tried to lure more fans from Geelong.

I am torn....I am new to Melbourne so don't really have strong ties to the Victory but I just don't see the new franchise lasting long being so close to the Victory.
