From Major League Soccer Rumors. Interesting if true.

EXPANSION: Miami FC Barca Club Logo Details Leaked

This came to our mailbox via anonymous email so we caution you to treat it like all anonymous email rumors. That said, it sounds somewhat plausible. Challenge to all you who are adept at Photoshop: If you can create a replica of what is described below, send it to us and we will add your creation to this post and use it in subsequent stories about the Miami club.

MLS franchise to be operated by Claure/FC Barcelona partnership will not be branded with exact FC Barcelona logo or name. Have seen black-and-white copy of logo the team is planning on using. Overall shape of badge will be that of FC Barcelona traditional shield, but band dividing upper and lower portions of logo's interior will run diagonally from lower left to upper right. FCB MIAMI emblazoned in this band. Lower portion of shield's interior will contain what would be Brightstar Corp logo, except for fact that stylized soccer ball replaces oval beneath two curved, radiating lines in company's mark. Team colors reportedly Navy, Powder Blue, Deep Red, Gold. Officially, thinking is that team name is FC Brightstar Miami with fans encouraged to refer to club as "Brighstar" or "the Brightstars". That said, FCB MIAMI is wordmark of choice - not FC BRIGHTSTAR MIAMI. Also, FCB in logo and wordmark meant to convey not only "FC Brightstar Miami" but "FC Barcelona Miami" and "F Club Bolivar Miami".

There is no way any of that is true. Maybe they use the FCB crest shape, but there is no way the put a corporate logo, even a modified one, in the crest. If he wants Claure can put Brightstar's logo as the shirt sponser(unlikely since I'm sure they'll want to charge someone else for that). And if they are already set on FCB Miami then they will be made liars in regards to the contest. I don't buy any of this for one second.

MLS will force Barca to name the team Miami Opulence, or the deal's off. The mascot will be a green Smurf with glasses. My next door neighbor's third cousin told me that. :D

That Palmeiras jersey looks too much like Houston's.

They could've made it so much more realistic.

I dont buy it for one second

Too many team colors, there is no way a jersey can have that many different colors.

Any "source" that makes any naming claim is complete B.S. Claure and FCB plan a naming contest.

Exactly. They wouldnt have the name the team contest in the home page if they werent going to do it.

    Unless the options are

    FCB Miami
    Brightstar Miami
    Bolivar Miami

Some new crest designs based off FCB's crest. I actually attempted using a diagonal stripe with the name, as was suggested in the almost certainly bogus rumor, but it screamed 'NHL'. Included are the most popular color schemes and some different name options. I included the FCB names for comparison. If they do come up with a crest that looks anything like this, whatever colors it may end up being, does it really need Barça or FCB or Barcelona to get people to think of FC Barcelona? I say no.

Personally I like the pure yellow/red options.

I like the top left and the top right ones(but with a modern FLA Flag would be better) both have a connection to Spain and Barcelona). I prefer Miami SC for the name, but could deal with Miami FC if Miami FC is involved.

Just a thought. i think the next teams have to be unusual colors, Because I see too many red and blue teams in the league, it getting kind of boring
    Red Teams:
RSL, Chivas USA, Toronto, NY RB, Chicago, FC Dallas
    Blue Teams:
KC wizards, SJ EarthQ, New england
    Other Color teams:
    Seattle - green
    Dynamo - orange
    DCU - Black
    Colombus - Yellow
Colorado - Blue and Red :(

I say the next team pick some unique colors (No Red or Blue)

Philly - green and black or Purple (valladolid) or white
Miami - Dark Green (Palmeiras), or Black and yellow (penarol),
    red and orange (strikers)
Expansion team # 18 - White, or White and black (newcastle),

While you certainly would want a unique look for the next teams, I think the reasoning behind the call for new colors is a tiny bit flawed. Don't bring in new colors just for the sake of having new colors. I think you have to foremost find a look that fits the teams - if that look is in colors that are new in the league then that's great, but you can have a unique signature look in many ways. For example, green and orange would be fitting for Miami imho - so I would choose it because it fits, not just because it's a new color combo in MLS.

Anyone think of having the state bird(mockinbird) on a crest?
It might not be popular though, since the team will be Miami's team and TB may get a team in the future.
I would like to see some more Pelican/Crane ideas.
Too bad that Seattle used blue and bright green, as they are similar colors as the Miami-Dade flag and crest. I guess if Miami added Yellow to the mix it would be different.

The color scheme kind of reminds of Brasil.

Blue, green & orange maybe? That might work.

Pelican? I'll think about that. It would be distinctive, but might morph into a nickname. Do ya wanna cheer for the Miami Pelicans?...:D A crane? Possibly, but let's not imitate the U's Ibis. We might use an animal that is only found near Miami in the US; the North American crocodile. Yet that could become a nickname, the Miami Crocs, that could be used against us, but it is one that relates to this area only.

Note the Palms in the County crest? At least one is almost a requirement in the team crest, IMO. It says "tropical" better than anything else.

Hopefully we'll hear something other than rumors shortly so we can actually do something of substance & not just weave pretty dreams on the internet...;)

I like the first two from the above, the best. But without the number on the front of the white jersey.

hmm ,blue, orange and green, not sure how that would look. I like the idea of the Dade colors, blue-green-yellow. If the team doesnt go with ornge and green or teal and orange.
Yeah your right. An Ibis/crane/pelican could get confused with U, especially if the team colors are orange and green.
No Croc of chit for me lol.
The Miami-Dade crest has a palm, a ship and the sun, Tropical with a capitol T...LOL
