Most comfortable way, flying: Hannover has an airport. From Dublin as far as I know there are no direct flights, but with stop in Amsterdam. Prices from 340€ on (Opodo), flight time depends on the waiting time in Amsterdam, but in best case 3:20 h. A cheaper alternative is to fly from Dublin to Hamburg (100km away from Hannover, one stop in Frankfurt). Price less than 200 € for the two flights (link to the flight, if you stay the weekend) +42 € for train from Hamburg to Hannover (Niedersachsenticket, 21 € for each trip), longer waiting time at Frankfurt (total flight time 5h + ~1h train).
Cheaper methods are probably only possible, if you hitchhike or if some fanclubs offer organised trips.

Anyways, even if I would be a bit envious, if Hannover play you. I wish St.Pat's all the best in the current round and a nice party vs. Hannover.

Rynair flies to Bremen, Lübeck and Frankfurt-Hahn. Bremen is about as far as Hamburg (and also has the Niedersachsenticket option), Lübeck is not far from Hamburg (but the trainfare should be double), Frankfurt Hahn is in the middle of nowhere (Bus ride to Cologne or Frankfurt propper + train ride = ~5 hour commute). Hanover being located in the middle of Germany there really isn't any foreign airport I can recommend, (Amsterdam and Eindhoven are 4.5h by train, Prague is 5, Poland 5+). Trains are not that cheap in Germany (cheaper to book in advance if you wanna use high speed rail), so I'd probably

On the plus side, Frankfurt airport proper (not to mix with Frankfurt Hahn),, Paderborn, Dortmund and Berlin are all within 3h, Cologne and both Dusseldorf airports within 4. I'd just keep my eyes open at skyscanner.com.

Kinda gutted that I am in the middle of my Master thesis, I would have loved to fly to the away game and visit Dublin again.

Thanks lads! Will pass all that on to other Pat's fans.

We played Hertha Berlin in 2008, I wasn't able to go but from everyone who went, they said it was a great trip. Hopefully we'll have another trip to Germany.

Unfortunately, I can't give advice to anyone planning on travelling to Dublin, someone on our forum might be able to help.

Thanks, will pass that on, too (even though 'book a flight, book a hostel, go to tempel bar to get drunk, watch the game, stay drunk, don't miss the flight home' is fairly easy).

There is not that many 96-fans here, so if you folks need more advise (once you beat the Bosnians) I recommend the official forum.

Suffice to say everybody is really looking forward to it, you Irish have a great reputation and proved it true for everybody to see at the Euro.

Very happy about that, Felipe and Huszti are signings that will bring the team forward, considering we haven't lost anybody important safe Pogatetz (Well, if Pinto is out we don't really have anybody who can play his position the way Lala did, but I don't see that as a big problem).

Awesome! At that time we'll also have a big festival in Hanover around the lake that is right next to the stadium. The stadium itself is situated quite close to the city center for a German club, a good plan is to go to the Irish pub at the market church before the game, take a look at the old town (which is kinda small thanks to WW2), then stroll to the stadium, and go to the Maschseefest (or lake festival) afterwards. Everybody here is looking forward to it, so both matches should be a blast. I'd expect a few thousand of us making their way to Dublin, since it is such an attractive destination.

Just out of curiosity, which airport are you flying in?

If you like zoos, Hannover's is a pretty good one. That's if you want to do more than drink beer and watch soccer....;) The pedestrian area is nice to hang out in too--lots of open air cafes.

Squig on our forum is obviously you so most of what I say here you'll know already, sorry if the things I've asked here are already on our forum, haven't had a good read of it yet.

I'm flying into Dusseldorf, there's 40+ (that I know of) on the flight so far, feel sorry for the other people on the plane and train to Hannover. Can you drink on trains?

We've already been in contact with bars/pubs, Nordkurve and Waterloo-biergarten have got back to us, The Dublin Inn also. I'm not a fan of Irish bars abroad, I was in Lviv, Ukraine last year when we were playing Karpaty and we got totally ripped off in their Irish bar, would much rather go to a proper Hannover bar if we're welcome.

What do you reccomend for a local beer? I've had Franziskaner Hefe in Austria before and it was the nicest beer I've tasted, I know it's from Munich but hopefully I can taste it again in Hannover.

The match in Dublin will be played in Tallaght Stadium, the "home" of our scummy neighbours:
    http://www.tallaghtstadium.ie/

The Hannover fans will be in the east stand:

For any Hannover fans travelling to Dublin, there's a thread on our forum how to get to Tallaght, and what pubs to go to:
    http://www.saintsforum.net/showthread.php?2734-info-for-travelling-Hannover-fans
McDowells is practically a part of Richmond Park and Tom Tavey's is another great spot but it's pretty small, they're both on Emmet Road in Inchicore. I don't live in Tallaght so I can't reccomend any pubs there, you'd be better off staying around Inchicore before the match and travel to the match with the Pat's fans.

    Yeah, that'd be me :)

Yopu can drink on most German trains (certainly the ones from DU to H). Plenty of bars to visit and local drinks to be had, do not fear. Note especially the festival around the lake for after the game (or even before.

You can get Bavarian Weizenbeers everywhere. The German beer market however is not that centralized, so the local Hanoverian beers are Gilde and Herrenhäuser, both of which brew Pilsener (which are a bit more bitter, and therefore better, than Beck's). Herrenhäuser also makes their own Weizen, which I like better than Franziskaner.
There are also two microbrews not that far from the stadium: HBX and Brauhaus Ernst August.
Local specialty is Lüttje Lage, you will get that at Maschseefest (the festival).

Is that some sort of a beer/shot concoction? Looks different to say the least.

I actually can't wait to get over and try most of them. When you're drinking the likes of Heineken, Coors, Budweiser and Fosters, a trip to Germany is a more than welcome change :)

Yep, it's a low-alcoholic beer and Korn, some German kind of Vodka.

Can't wait for that day to start, looks like it will be one big party. And still gutted I won't be in Dublin :-(

If anyone's interested, we have our own radio show, it starts at 18:00 GMT (in 3 minutes). I've no doubt they'll be talking about Hannover.

We didn't deserve a 3-0 defeat, it still was a great performance but we shoul've scored at the start of the 2nd half. It won't dampen our trip next week though.

There was great respect between both sets of fans, especially in the ground after the match, I've never experienced anything like that.

If anyone collects/is interested in ultras stickers, myself along with a few other lads will be selling ours next week:
    http://www.shedendinvincibles.com/apps/blog/show/17853800-new-stickers-available

Hopefully those who went, enjoyed their trip to Dublin.

Will definately be getting one of them half and half scarfs and maybe the top.

Is there a club shop in the city centre or do you get then at the stadium?

Not following the olympics tbh. Will have to have a look at that.

There's a shop in the city center, but there is also one at the stadium (as well as several outlets in the stadium on gamedays, even though not at the guest area). And the respect being shown is just great, even online I enjoy it greatly!

Did they reopen the city center one then? It was closed last August when we were there, as they were renovating the Kropke.

Kröpcke is being rennovated, but the store was open all the time as far as I know. At least they never stopped advertising that you can get your tickets there, and that part of Kröpcke has (unfortunately) not really been renovated.

It was closed last August, and you could see where the shelving had been, so we ended up walking down to the stadium via the Rathaus--actually the day of the Sevilla game (and so sad there was not a ticket to be had) as I wanted a Cherundolo jersey.

Ah last year. I think they just opened that shop after that game, it has not been there for very long. Lucky you that the stadium is not that far, I guess.
