So, by my count Namoff, Carroll, and Gros suspended for this one...and hopefully Jaime on the bench, at least for the first hour.

I think it'll be well over 20k, DCU has been hyping the hell out of this thing.

This should be a huge night, attendence wise. They've been hyping it for weeks now, there are seperate giveaways for both the first 5,000 and 10,000 people, and very importantly, it's NCSL/WAGS/ODSL night at the game. That should bring in a ton of teams.

I would guess over 25,000, and it could go a few thousand upwards of that depending on the weather.

Personally, I'd rather think of DC United as a force of evil.

    Embrace the dark side, Metrofans.

I'd agree Jeremy, but there's no way Red Bull (in the sense of the company going and buying/rebranding teams, not the Metros themselves) can be considered a force of good.

We have a chance to deal a huge blow to any remaining playoff hopes for them.
They have a pretty tough remaining schedule with Revs in Boston tomorrow, DCU at RFK, Colorado in the mile high air, and Chicago.
They are pretty much toast. I will be very interested to see what kind of line-up we run out there. It is very hard to guess at this point with the cards and nagging injuries.
I do want to see more of Ssejjemmba though.

We can, uh, wrap up the Supporters' Shield with a win and a Dallas loss, right?

Yes, but only on head to head as both teams would end the season on 55 points, if Dallas won every game after losing this weekend and we lost every game after winning this weekend. We would still get 1st place in the East even if Chicago won all there remaining games.

Which as I am sure you agree, at this stage, is good enough for me.:D

Ah yes, ******** me I forgot about Ssejjemba. Hopefully he can be as productive as we have heard he can be.

We own the tiebreaker over Dallas.

If we lose this match, our season is pretty much cooked, IMHO.

Well, unless Dallas loses on Saturday too...I guess...right?

Yes, but Chicago is getting really, really close and has somewhat of an easy remaining schedule. If DC can't pull their heads out of the funk they're in then Chicago coud bypass us for both 1st place and the Supporters Shield.
That is if Dallas continues to falter as well.

Chicago is still 11 pts back with four to play. Our play has been frustrating, but I think that our chances are good regardless of the outcome of this game.
However, it is very important to try to stop the bleeding and get some rest for the guys going into the playoffs.

    Just to reiterate the races:

    1. We are 1 point from clinching the East. If Chicago ties or loses a single game from here on out, we clinch the East regardless of our results. Conversely, if we tie or win a single game from here on out, we win the East, regardless of Chicago's results. If Chicago catches us, they will own the tiebreaker on us with 2 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie. No one else from the East can catch us.

    2. We are 6 points from clinching the Supporters Shield. We must gain and Dallas must lose some combination of 6 points for us to clinch. Remember, every Dallas tie is 2 points lost for them. Dallas must make up 19 points on us to wrest the Shield. If they win out, we still have to lose 2 matches and tie a third for them to catch us. Chicago must make up 23 points on us to wrest the Shield (and first place in the East). If they win out, we still must lose every game for this to happen.

All that said, our playoffs begin on Saturday. We have 1 home match each against our three main Eastern rivals and likely playoff opponents. If we lose or tie 2 of these matches, we can pretty much kiss making it to the Eastern Conference finals goodbye. At this point, we are not a good team. If we are to turn it around, it begins this week.

Well we could look at it a little differently...

Luke (RBNY) was a pu$$Y and represented the 'light' side of the force.
Vader (DCU) was BADASS and represented the 'dark' side of the force.

    Plus, Vader was Luke's Daddy...

All in all, it fits prefectly.

Edit: Of course there is that whole "Jedi victory over the 'dark side'" at the end of episode VI, but it's an ongoing story and I like to think the Dark Side wins in the end...

I hope Marco and the rest of the '96 team visit the lockerroom before the game and remind the guys what wearing our jersey is all about.
