Re: Official Queensland Roar FC Thread [R] So any news on when the Brisbane Roar gets confirmed? http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/a-league/farina-gold-coast-face-reality-check-181153/
Re: Official Queensland Roar FC Thread [R] Palmer is being ridiculous. Boasting that they are going to win the title is a long shot, but going undefeated? GCU is not the old Arsenal! There are no easy games in the A-League, that's what makes it interesting. Say on average Gold Coast have a 60% chance of winning any given game (very generous) and a 25% chance of drawing. That means that they still have only a 1 and a half percent chance of going undefeated. Palmer is crazy
Re: Official Queensland Roar FC Thread [R] Yeah he's shooting his mouth off bigtime. Though it will be good for the league, it will give everybody someone to hate.

Re: Official Queensland Roar FC Thread [R] Might have to change the thread title to Brisbane Roar hey el-cap?
Well it was a bit hard to justify the Queensland Roar playing for the "whole" state, when there were two new Queensland teams in the A-League. North Queensland shouldn't change their name anytime soon, unless they get another team in their region many moons down the track.
Not sure if this has been mentioned already but Celtic will travel to Australia to play Brisbane Roar in a pre-season friendly in the summer. CELTIC will play a friendly match in Australia this summer. The game in Queensland against Brisbane Roar will take place on Sunday, July 12 at Suncorp Stadium. And it will give the many thousands of Celtic supporters in Australia the opportunity to see the Hoops in action, with striker Scott McDonald returning home. Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said the club was delighted to accept the invitation to play in Australia. “Celtic are fortunate to enjoy the support of millions of people worldwide,” he said, “and it will be a great privilege to ensure that many of our Australian supporters have the chance to see the team play in their own country. “As well as playing in the match we are hoping to stage a number of other supporter events and we are sure we will make this a trip to remember for Celtic and our fans.” http://www.celticfc.net/news/stories/news_160509233128.aspx
Have you got the "Its only pre season, and we didn't play our full lineup" excuses ready, when the A-League shows where we are in the world, and Brisbane kicks Celtic's ass?
Hell yeah! We've got tons of ready made excuses for pre-season humpings. Haven't even scraped the tip of the iceberg yet. We always go to one pre-season game away from home and usually outwith the UK but I'm afraid it's been agreed this time that we'll be heading to the new Wembley for that tournament so no Brisbane this time for me.
Channel seven hasn't cottoned on to the fact the Qld in now the Brisbane Roar. Had news captions running all day about Qld Roar playing Celtic. I couldn't help but LOL, bloody amature hacks!!!
hey where could a yank get his hands on a Roar jersey other than the official club's shop. Of course it would have to be shipped as I don't plan to get to the other side of the world anytime soon (Although the national news said that airfare has gotten ridiculously cheap). any links? I am thinking local soccer/sports shops? Thanks
I'd assume you might want to trawl Ebay for a look-see, or ask some local stores if they'd order one for you (although it might be cheaper/just as costly to just look on Ebay). http://shop.ebay.com/items/__queens...kwZroarQQ_ckwZjersey?_trksid=p3286.m104.l1199 There's a few things I've found, let me search a little more... Here's a signed for $200AUD (that figures around 140ish USD plus shipping, if you can convince them that you're a Yank actually wanting to buy an A-League jersey): http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Soccer-Footb...ms=66:2|65:1|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50 And here's more items: http://shop.ebay.com.au/items/_W0QQ....l1313&_odkw=queensland+roar+jersey&_osacat=0
Sounds like Van Dijk is serious about playing for Indonesia. http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/sports/sriwijaya-coach-van-dijk-wants-indonesia-move/278102
I hope he doesn't want to go to play in Indonesia! He doesn't need to play for a club over there to be eligible for their NT.
Hey, the club changed its name to Brisbane Roar? I guess my two Queensland Roar scarves are now collectors items. Go Roar!
In a bit of really bad news, Roar star Murdocca broke his leg - more scans and all that await to assess all the damage, but it was a freak accident by the sounds of it: http://a-league.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=27939
