Why don't you be original and...add four teams of you're own as well? That's what I'm doing after/if I bother creating MLS teams.

This game is crack. GOOD crack. I havent stopped playing since I picked it up..with the wolf's patch(which corrects all the team/player/stadium/kits, has up to the date transfers, and so much more..), the game has everything over FIFA (except no MLS, but they dont even have the full Argentine league or anything like that, so meh).

Im playing through a season in La Liga with Bacelona..heres my modified lineup:
    --Valdes--
    -Puyol-Marquez-Edmilson-Belleti
    -Xavi-Gio-Deco-Ronaldinho
    -Laarson-Eto'o

Usually sub in Maxi Lopez for Laarson around '70 for some fresh legs up front. Just like in real life, that Ronaldinho/Eto'o connection is friggin lethal, especially as Im getting better at one touch passing.

i scored a hilarious goal last night. The CPU passed back to his keeper on the ground and the keeper totally missed the ball and it trickled into the net!

Has anyone had a problem using a Logitech Rumblepad2 for the game? It won't recognize mine.

i had that happen in my game of England vs. Sweden... Rooney was sprinting with the ball towards goal, and a defender beat him to one of his touches that went too far ahead, and one timed it back to the goalie but it was way too hard of a pass. the ball went right between the goalie's legs! i love winning eleven 8 lol

Sorry for the double questions, new game and eagerness.. shine on!

Anyhow, now that I'm playing (and doing well on level 5 :D ) I have a new question.

Is it just my comp settings or are the graphics, while still realistic, less than the previous version? It seems and feels more like the FIFA games. A bit heavy and not all-encompassing.

Oh, let me add, I am playing the PC version. WE8.

So 2 nights ago I had my best game ever. I was playing a 10min game vs my friend who is had been my best rival for the last 2 years or so. Anyway, with Chelsea I beat him 6-1. Really should have been 7-1 and by the end he was just keeping possession to prevent more goals. It felt awesome.

ive been playing it for about 2 weeks,,im on 3 stars now . Its a world of difference from 2 i tell ya. Its cool though b/c goals feel so much more important when u fight tooth and nail to get them.

This game is a must have for "educated" (for lack of a better word) soccer fans. Tactics actually play a hand in who wins or not. WIth fifa all you have to do is learn a particular pattern to score. There's a million different scenarios the ball can end up in back of the net in WE8. I'll still play Fifa just for the fact that i know im playing against another person on XBOX LIVE.

The close up face shots are better in fifa, and so is the grass on the pitch, but the way the players move and the ball physics in this game are on a different level. The players are closer to digital looking as opposed to fifa's cartoony look.

    the cons:

-corny arcade japanese rock in the menu (feels like im playing a 1v1 fighting game)
    -liscenses of course
    -no online play
-crowds dont have specific chants like in fifa
-THe US players are horrible :)
might be over whelming for a first time player, so much stuff involved but i guess they cater to the hardcore market

if your looking for a game you just want to pick up and start playing then go for FIFA, if you're a soccer nerd then go for we8

I can only think of two things:

    a) The through ball button is the same as the keeper charge button. If you press it and hold it down, he charges out.

    b) There's some sort of setting for being able to control your keeper manually that I never use. It's possible you have that set to 'on' in the startup screens, and you're actually controlling your keeper when you're trying to control your defenders.

Both. And one more thing. If you do the manual RUNS button (R2 on PS2) once your keeper plays the ball short then he'll make a run. Also holding Triangle/ Through Ball Button will cause the keeper to charge but only on Defense.

Pressing L1 then TRIANGLE on Defense can give you control of the Keeper. Or Triangle then LI on Defense.

After 3 seasons in 2nd Division Master League I got promoted to 1st. Seemed like a nice time to start playing in 6 stars. I did and I've won 7 of the first 9 games of the season.

Does anyone else feel that playing in 6 stars is easier than 5 stars?

I might be winning easily because my team is now only rivaled by teams like Arsenal, RM, ACM, etc. in the ratings.

    And another thing...

My starting eleven age average is 24, so allmost everybody gained experience at the end of the match. When I promoted to 1st division everybody seemed to gain a lot less experience. I'm assuming that's something that always happens but I'm not sure, can anyone corroborate this?

This is an epidemic of all Japanese made games. They usually cater to a different crowd. In Japan, its not how it the game looks, its if its fun to play. Which WE8 is. Its a token and novel gesture that wears off on us westernised gamers. :(

    Soccer nerd? lol I guess I am.........:D

Anyone come across a list so far with all the necessary edits for player names/team names? I have searched the web and only come across partial lists, mostly just for team names and stadium changes.

can someone please help me with my problem?

i don't know a whole lot about computers so i don't really know what to do. i installed WE8 without a problem, but everytime i try running it it says "no disk inserted." i don't know what's wrong with it.

each time i put the disk in the box comes up that has the choices of play, uninstall, readme, etc., but when i click play the same thing comes up every time. does anyone have a solution?

I'm having the same problem. I think it might be related to burning software, so I'll try that.

Actually I can get to the game menus, do all of that stuff, then when I actually try to start a game the announcers start talking, and a disc icon is in the lower left corner and it shuts down.

actually , it could be a hardware problem, you must have a very strong computer to be able to play these kind of games

Yeah, that was it. I turned down the settings, and I got it to run, but it's kind of choppy so I'll probably just exchange it for the ps2 version.

Actually you need a program called 3d Analyze and it will run just fine.

Check out the PES thread on soccergaming.com and it will tell you what you need to do.
