The team might have been better off going for a youngster like Stuart Holden or Robbie Rogers [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNkdvl2oVMc"]YouTube- Robbie Rogers[/ame]. Probably would have cost less.

For Freddy's sake I hope the team plays the youngster and helps him develop his defense.

Now I have a team in Greece to root for!

I really am not impressed by this fellow... The defence in this video is like playing with kids.... In Greece most of the times it's "either the ball or the player" passes... Defenders here are rough... And there are teams who play so much defence that they start the game with all players behind ball, double zonal marking and stuff like that...The last game Vs Atromitos doesn't give the right picture. Atromitos play an open game. Most of the teams don't.
To cut a long story short I don't think this guy you showed would have done these in the Greek league... If he did he would be great for moving to a bigger league (campionato perhaps).

Hopefully you understand that Adu does not play defense and that is is primary shortcoming. We are hoping that playing for Aris is going to change that.

Side note, find a old webcast of the USA v. Nigeria game in the Olympics. The left back was redcarded in the first three minutes. Rogers held down the entire left side and some extremely fast Nigerian players for a full 90 minutes. His defense has greatly improved playing with the USMNT and Bradley has toyed with playing him as a left back.

Good luck to Aris and good luck to Freddy! Here is to hoping this is a good hook up.

Yea, I am sure he'll get the hang of things and bust his butt for cuper.

Its wrong to say he DOESNT play defense, he tries, but he isnt the best, but will give the effort to come back, but he instinctually isnt a defender. I understand his style, because i too play similar. lol

Stuart Holden is on a different level from Rogers. He is consistent, young, and has performed well when given the chance in WC Qualifiers. If I remember correctly he was subbed in against mexico and gave a spark to the team. But he's going to burnley en the EPL.

It's ok he doesn't have to tackle like Cannavaro or mark like Maldini tou defend. That effort you said, is what Cuper wants.

Then you did not see the USA v. Costa Rica game. Holdem was flat, the team was losing. Rogers spearked the comeback with his pacey aggressive play. The comeback clinched the USA winning the qualifying bracket.

Obviously you partied way tooooo much!!! :D :D

Sunday 16.45 greek time - 9.45 US Eastern time - Aris vs. Iraklis

We will discuss it the respective Yanks Abroad Gameday topic.

And, of course, for those one who seek a **************, send a message to the member "kalnik3" (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/member.php?u=162207) who is ARISmania's administrator, the tracker that uploads all games of Aris. (www.arismania.com). He can send you an invitation to the tracker, so that you can all subscribe and download Aris' games.

Allow me to post the same thing to both EJ's and Adu's threads. I believe there are many BS members who have expressed their desire to watch an Aris' game.

I watched that game. He was more consistent in the gold cup and wcq than robbie rogers. That is a big difference, and the reason why Holden is playing more at the international level than Rogers, and why he is going to play in the EPL this coming year. Did you see the instant spark holden game the USA against Mexico in Azteca, which previously was lacking?

September 5, 2009 USA played a WCQ against El Salvador and Holden was subbed in on the 73 minute. This is a description of one play he made wrriten in an article on USSOCCER.COM, "As the game drew to a close in the 89th minute, Holden almost created the final goal, using fresh legs to steal the ball away from Denis Umanzor. After stripping the left back, Holden took the ball to the end line and sent in a cross that was too high for Donovan, leaving the ball for a streaking Torres who slammed a header towards the goal, but Montes made his best save of the day to keep El Salvador only down a goal."

Then next match against T&T Holden was subbed on in the 82 minute.

Later in September he started against Honduras in the next game.

And as you said Holden started against costa rica andwas subbed for robbie rodgers in the 68th minute, though it wasnt his best game, from the same reference...."In the 18th minute, flank midfielder Stuart Holden popped free on the right wing after a nifty back heel from Casey and chipped a cross into the middle to Altidore, but his diving header attempt from the penalty spot went skidding wide left."

There must be a reason Bob Bradley consistently gives Stuart Holden much more playing time than Holden. Im not posting this to speak bad about Rogers, but to respond to your criticism about stuart holden.

    Go USA

I downloaded the most recent match, and tried to download the olymp. match on 12/20 but my ratio is not high enough. And I don't have other **************** to upload. Its kept me from further understanding the Aris team. Finally tommorow i will be able to watch nacho hopefully, and the other starters who couldnt start

I think the ratio will be a standard problem for all you Americans, since you are all new to the tracker. Send a private message to kalnik3, who's the administrator of arismania (I posted his profile link above) and I am sure he will level up your ration, so that you can download it. I' ll notify him, myself too. ;)
