During the last 4 years, we prefer the Spanish/Latin American market to buy our players. Even now, you will be surprised with how many such players we have in our squad (just take a look at my post above about the first 11 of today's game, to get an idea ;)).

So, I don't think that having 2 American players would be such a problem for our team. Obviously, he saw smth in these guys that triggered his interest. Probably, EJ's composure and natural fitness/speed, as well as Adu's talent, combined with his motivation to claim a US National Team spot in the forthcoming World Cup.

Besides, don't forget that in January, the availability of players is much more limited than in the summer's transfer period and thus, the options are not that many.

If anyone is interested in watching EJ's new team, here are some streams for today's game:

    http://myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=60689&part=sports

The game kicks off in 19.00 local greek time (12.00 US eastern time).

As you probably know, EJ isn't playing today.

Yes, I can see how people think adu and EJ are overrated, because of their so far, bad stints in europe. But its a long story and really doesnt say much about them as players right now....

Aris i think is the answer, as long as they both can get a good amount of playing time. They will be fine.

I Know Aris has a very Latin American Squad and thats what made me follow them...so i have deep knowledge of the club as you can see ive been updating this forum for quite sometime now..

I think we should have gone for some proven players, Aris needs to be fighting for a chance in Europe and unproven players are not the answer for that. I wish i was wrong though cause i want to see Aris in Europe! The fans deserve it!

    ____

I dont see how Adu or EJ can adjust to that style of play..they have yet to adjust to anything really. So Cuper, porfavor no te la comas y juega con lo mejor ke tienes! por ke con lo ke llego...solo es un refill

Yes, I browsed it and you did a very good job! And, btw, thanks for supporting our team! :)

I know what you are talking about! Still, proven players are hard to buy or loan under favorable conditions, so we tried to do our best with as less money as possible. Despite our financial inability to land famous players, we managed to bring players with a certain background, during the last 4 years, such as Koke, Lembo, Amoroso, Regueiro, Abreu, Gracian, Nasuti, Nafti.

Many of them proved their quality and offered a lot to the team. Others didn't adjust to the mentality of Aris and leaved the club, having done nothing. That's the risk of getting an achieved and over-hyped player: he might not have the motivation to push himself and constantly improve, let alone the fact that his ego can cause trouble in the locker rooms.

From what I can understand, Cuper wants to have motivated players in his teams. Thus, he chose to bring 2 American guys who need to revive or improve their careers and that, above all, they are young and ambitious. Make the comparison with Gracian and Abreu, players who were realtively accomplished, but proved to be no good for our team.

I am almost sure that Cuper has evaluated all the "cons" but, for his own reasons (call it feeling, maybe...), he still wants to experiment. He thinks, perhaps, that he is able of improving EJ's talent and totally transforming Adu as a player .

Who knows? This personal bet of Cuper, to bring the best out of them, might actually work. We all wish that!

    ^^^Good call.

Itrs a gamble, but a good one. Because they are bringing in 2 players that have been basically put a side, and had before a TON of hype to them, more so Adu.

Aris wants to probably buy them and get world class players at a cheap price because of their shitty time at other clubs.

I hope it works out and they get a crucial bargain with the two of them!

Freddy Adu signing is now official: http://twitter.com/freddyadu11

I read somewhere that Cuper intends to use him as a wing midfielder, preferably on the left side. I think that Freddy's technical and passing ability will help him tremendously, and EJ will simply burn grass with his speed.

That's right. He's supposed to cover the left side but I guess he will still have the freedom to move along the pitch, as a free-role playmaker.

Of course, I am expecting lots of through balls to EJ and I am very optimistic that their cooperation will help us score many goals.

    Hello everyone!!!

I am a new member in this forum and i'm glad that there is already a topic of my team, ARIS F.C.

Well, to begin with, i'd like to tell you some of the latest news of our club...
Yesterday we beat Atromitos... We played good football and so we are happy with the 0-3(!) result...

Today, Freddy Adu, a young and VERY talented American player, finally signed to ARIS... I think it was a good decision, not only for us, but also for him... Aris' coach is Hector Raul Cuper (i think you all know what he has made in his great career) and i think this will help him play at a 100% of his ability...
Now, for our club is a very nice move, because i think he is one of the best Left Wingers in Greek Super League...

    That's all for now...

    Greetings to all of you!

wow as soon as Apu and Ej signed this thread went nuts...

stop with the vids yall! and provide useful info like it has been stated!

Francis, actually id say Nacho is prolly AEKs best player and a pilar in their team...

Gracian as mentioned is or was not ever a proven player he was always a player that lacked stability and he left boca for a reason...he didnt deliver what everyone thought he could give and in Mexico he was a good player but again he lacked stability...its crazy what Javier Campora is doing...while at Cruz Azul he was thrown out cause he just didnt hack it and he actually did quite well in Jaguares..same goes to Nasuti with Morelia...Lots of ex-fmf players in Aris this past semester if u include el Loco. tough to see him go! does anyone have the info on why? Abreu is 10X better than EJ...

Abreu is a different player then adu, and is at this point almost at the end of his career.

His best parts is his ability to head and finish on crosses. He is slow as molasses, and is atarget man. EJ offers more then this as forward. What Abreu does do well though, is score when needed!

I just have a feeling EJ will do better, and with his numbers of what is it, 3 goals in his amount of time there? I can gaurantee that Adu will score more!

And for the amount of salary they were paying him, he was NOT worth it! He was the highest earner, second to gracian and both were performing NOT up to par for what they were getting paid.

Bottom line, Abreu and IMO Gracian more so then el loco, are both good players, but for some reason they didnt do well while in greece.

Same could happen wiht the americans, but only time will tell if they sink or float.

    Well, Bolivianfuego is absolutely right...

Abreu may score easier than EJ, but our team needs more than simply a scorer...
EJ can press the defenders and force them to make mistakes...
Also, ARIS way of playing contains many cross-balls, so we need a fast striker in order to turn these chances into goals...

I think that EJ is a good choice an i believe he will prove on the pitch...
