Its interesting to note that JSC's season already finished, with the team only being 2nd. in Hokushinetsu League and not playing the regional playoffs and knocked out of the emperors too.
Nara Club are almost certainly going to have to concentrate on the Emperor's Cup this season too. No Shakaijin and in the league they're nine points behind Amitie with three games remaining and a much worse goal difference. Looks like those shirts haven't been quite as successful as they'd hoped.
On the boards the manager Hachuda got the blame for the bad season, which is a shame since he is a wheelchair user.
First teams to qualify for the 92nd Emperor's cup are: Chiba-ken: Kashiwa Reysol U-18 Tokyo-to: Yokogawa Musashino Yamanashi-ken: Yamanashi Gakuin University Orions Aichi-ken: FC Kariya Nara-ken: Nara Club Tottori-ken: Yonago Kita High School Kagawa-ken: Kamatamare Sanuki Fukuoka-ken: Fukuoka University Nagasaki-ken: Nagasaki Institute of Applied Science High School Teams in bold represented their prefecture in last year's tennohai too. Both Yamanashi and Nagasaki representers are newcomers to the national phase of the tournament, while all the other teams have already taken part in the competition. These 8 teams add up to V-Varen Nagasaki, who qualified as the best JFL team at the end of Round 17.
46 teams qualified for the first round, only Okinawa is missing and will be known tomorrow according to wikipedia: Hokkaido: Sapporo University (University team) Aomori: Vanraure Hachinohe (Tohoku League div. 2 North) Iwate: Grulla Morioka (Tohoku League div. 1) Miyagi: Sony Sendai (JFL) Akita: Blaublitz Akita (JFL) Yamagata: Nihon University Yamagata High School (High School) Fukushima: Fukushima United (Tohoku League div. 1) Ibaraki: Tsukuba University (University team) Tochigi: Vertfee Takahara Nasu (Kanto League div. 1) Gunma: Tonan Maebashi (Kanto League div. 1) Saitama: Heisei International University (University team) Chiba: Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Youth team) Tokyo: Yokogawa Musashino (JFL) Kanagawa: YSCC (JFL) Yamanashi: Yamanashi Gakuin University Orions (University team) Nagano: AC Nagano Parceiro (JFL) Niigata: Niigata University of Management (University team) Toyama: Toyama Shinjo Club (Hokushinetsu League div. 1) Ishikawa: Zweigen Kanazawa (JFL) Fukui: Saurcos Fukui (Hokushinetsu League div. 1) Shizuoka: Hamamatsu University (University team) Aichi: FC Kariya (Tokai League div. 1) Mie: FC Suzuka Rampole (Tokai League div. 1) Gifu: FC Gifu Second (reserve team, Tokai League div. 1) Shiga: Sagawa Shiga FC (JFL) Kyoto: Amitie SC Kyoto (Kansai League div. 1) Osaka: Kansai University (University team) Hyogo: Kwansei Gakuin University (University team) Nara: Nara Club (Kansai League div. 1) Wakayama: Arterivo Wakayama (Kansai League div. 1) Tottori: Yonago Kita High School (High School) Shimane: Matsue City FC (Chugoku League) Okayama: Fagiano Okayama Next (reserve team, Chugoku League) Hiroshima: Fukuyama University (University team) Yamaguchi: Tokuyama University (University team) Tokushima: Panasonic Energy Tokushima* (Shikoku League) Ehime: FC Imabari** (Shikoku League) Kagawa: Kamatamare Sanuki (JFL) Kochi: Kochi University (University team) Fukuoka: Fukuoka University (University team) Saga: Saga University (University team) Nagasaki: Nagasaki Institute of Applied Science High School (High School) Kumamoto: Ohzu High School (High School) Oita: Hoyo AC Elan Oita (JFL) Miyazaki: Miyazaki Sangyo-Keiei University (University team) Kagoshima: Volca Kagoshima (Kyushu League) Okinawa: tbd *: took part last year as Sanyo Electric Tokushima. **: took part last year as Ehime FC Shimanami. Out of all the university teams, five of them have regional-level league experience: - Sapporo University plays in the Hokkaido main division as "Sapporo University Goal Plunderers." - Niigata University of Management plays in the Hokushinetsu League two as " '09 Keidai FC" - Hamamatsu University plays in Tokai League division two. - Kansai University plays in the second tier of the Kansai League, as Kandai FC 2008. - Kwansei Gakuin has a team in the same division as Kansai University. Out of all the 46 teams only three are newcomers to the cup: Yamanashi University, Nagasaki Institute of Applied Science and Matsue City FC.
Thanks a bunch for this my favourite cup probably in the world (if you take off the Champions League and Euopa League) 2 questions who are the possible winners of Okinawa prefecture? From which round on can we expect TV coverage and hope for streamed games?
Ryukyu/Kaihoo SC from Okinawa Live broadcast probably @ 2nd round (J1 + J2 teams start from here) edit: 2 matches Sept 8th, 1 match Sept 9th live on BS (scheduled)
The Okinawa FA website backs what karolb said, since the final will be between FC Ryukyu (JFL) and Okinawa Kaiho Bank (Kyushu League). Both teams took part in last year's cup since FC Ryukyu qualified as one of the two JFL teams.
Really again thank you for this work as you save me a lot of time of checking all those clubs and searching for additional info like in what league they play in and from which prefecture they come from. Like always I will be cheering for the Uni and High School teams to cause an upset and make it as far as possible. I havent checked all the pairings but have checked some and so far it seems all High School and Uni teams are matched against JFL or Regional teams and there isn't a match-up between themselves
Also would it be possible to get logos for the following teams Yamagata: Nihon University Yamagata High School (High School) Tottori: Yonago Kita High School (High School) Nagasaki: Nagasaki Institute of Applied Science High School (High School) Kumamoto: Ohzu High School (High School) would be great if for Universities as well, but mostly for these High School teams cant find them on net
Keep your eyes at Hamamatsu University, they effetually are the youth side of Honda FC, but has beaten both Honda FC and Fujieda MYFC during the Shizuoka preliminaries.
thanks for the heads up Universities like Tsukuba University Heisei International University Fukuoka University Miyazaki Sangyo-Keiei University arent bad either and if you remember last year. It was the Fukuoka one who caused an upset in the second round after beating Omiya Ardiya and in the third round it took extra time to get them down by Shonan Bellmere
Any idea why the Kyushu regional league plays extra time for league draws, giving 1 point to the loser of extra time, and 2 points to the winner? For example: http://www.volca-kagoshima.jp/ranking.html
No idea why, but Kyushu have used that system since 1995; Chugoku did the same from 1997 for a decade or so.
An additional detail is that in the event of a draw AET they have penalty shoot-outs, similarly awarding two points to the winner and one to the loser.
I think they skip extra time and go directly to PK shootouts, basing merely on the fact that out of 11 games that ended in a tie after 90 minutes during this season, all were decided by penalty shootouts and no goals were scored during extra time according to the official game sheets on the Kyu League website. I didn't find any substitution after 90 mins either, so I guess they go directly to PK

Final will be at Ajinomoto.
Has anyone mentioned that SC Sagamihara won D1 of Kanto League? Five back-to-back championships with four promotions (and they are clear favorites to make it to JFL this year), that's remarkable. I wonder if a vertical climb like this had ever happened in Japan.
