Its interesting to note that JSC's season already finished, with the team only being 2nd. in Hokushinetsu League and not playing the regional playoffs and knocked out of the emperors too.

Nara Club are almost certainly going to have to concentrate on the Emperor's Cup this season too. No Shakaijin and in the league they're nine points behind Amitie with three games remaining and a much worse goal difference. Looks like those shirts haven't been quite as successful as they'd hoped.

On the boards the manager Hachuda got the blame for the bad season, which is a shame since he is a wheelchair user.

First teams to qualify for the 92nd Emperor's cup are:

    Chiba-ken: Kashiwa Reysol U-18
    Tokyo-to: Yokogawa Musashino
    Yamanashi-ken: Yamanashi Gakuin University Orions
    Aichi-ken: FC Kariya
    Nara-ken: Nara Club
    Tottori-ken: Yonago Kita High School
    Kagawa-ken: Kamatamare Sanuki
    Fukuoka-ken: Fukuoka University

Teams in bold represented their prefecture in last year's tennohai too.
Both Yamanashi and Nagasaki representers are newcomers to the national phase of the tournament, while all the other teams have already taken part in the competition.

These 8 teams add up to V-Varen Nagasaki, who qualified as the best JFL team at the end of Round 17.

The Okinawa FA website backs what karolb said, since the final will be between FC Ryukyu (JFL) and Okinawa Kaiho Bank (Kyushu League). Both teams took part in last year's cup since FC Ryukyu qualified as one of the two JFL teams.

Really again thank you for this work as you save me a lot of time of checking all those clubs and searching for additional info like in what league they play in and from which prefecture they come from.

Like always I will be cheering for the Uni and High School teams to cause an upset and make it as far as possible.
I havent checked all the pairings but have checked some and so far it seems all High School and Uni teams are matched against JFL or Regional teams and there isn't a match-up between themselves

Keep your eyes at Hamamatsu University, they effetually are the youth side of Honda FC, but has beaten both Honda FC and Fujieda MYFC during the Shizuoka preliminaries.

thanks for the heads up :)

    Universities like

    Tsukuba University
    Heisei International University
    Fukuoka University
    Miyazaki Sangyo-Keiei University

arent bad either and if you remember last year. It was the Fukuoka one who caused an upset in the second round after beating Omiya Ardiya and in the third round it took extra time to get them down by Shonan Bellmere

No idea why, but Kyushu have used that system since 1995; Chugoku did the same from 1997 for a decade or so.

An additional detail is that in the event of a draw AET they have penalty shoot-outs, similarly awarding two points to the winner and one to the loser.

I think they skip extra time and go directly to PK shootouts, basing merely on the fact that out of 11 games that ended in a tie after 90 minutes during this season, all were decided by penalty shootouts and no goals were scored during extra time according to the official game sheets on the Kyu League website.
I didn't find any substitution after 90 mins either, so I guess they go directly to PK :)

Has anyone mentioned that SC Sagamihara won D1 of Kanto League?

Five back-to-back championships with four promotions (and they are clear favorites to make it to JFL this year), that's remarkable. I wonder if a vertical climb like this had ever happened in Japan.
