I saw this today: From: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports...ush_to_judgment_after_Union_s_first_loss.html
I have never been nor will I ever be a conspiracy theorist, but something about this seems odd. Torres allegedly suffers an injury in Costa Rica, but is not on the Injury Report. He is in such bad shape that he doesn't even travel with the team to play on Monday night. By Tuesday morning, he's fine and no longer has any ill effects. I know it's a long season and it's better to be cautious, but it is awfully strange.
I think Nowak came out and said essentially he was ok, but with a plastic pitch that takes on the qualities of a slip-n-slide when it gets wet they felt it was better to hold him back and not risk some fluke type thing on that field. And with the travel budgets these teams have I can completely see him not flying across the country with the team.
Fair comment, there were plenty of other poor performances Monday so I expect Lopez will get another chance. IIRC Keon Daniel had a horrible first game (Open Cup vs. DC perhaps?) and improved quickly. As for the Colorado game, I can't see the U doing better than a point.

I'm definitely trying to take a " possitive " outlook . I'd like to think there is a reason that he was brought in . I hope for his sake he has a respectable game. If not the vultures will be ready to swoop in. I agree that a draw is probably likely.
Hopefully this guy shows up soon ... "PHILADELPHIA UNION -- DOUBTFUL: DF Gabriel Farfan (R quad strain); QUESTIONABLE: DF Chris Albright (R groin strain)" from MLS That should be it regarding Farfan at LB
Hopefully, we have a better match than last week, when we had all the rhythm of Mitt Romney on Soul Train... Here's the odds on the match. +123h/ +235d/ +280a My underdog special? New England is +750 to win in Kansas City....
I wrote this in the Portland game thread and just wanted to help clarify the Lopez situation. Rumor has it the FO conversation between Peter Nowak and Nicky S for Lopez went something like this: Nick: Peter, come into my office, I want to talk to you about our left back situation. Peter: Sure, Nick, but I thought I would play Mwanga there this year. Nick: Yeah, maybe, but I know of this player with big hair that looks awesome from a distance. Think Williams, but blow it out and 10x bigger. Peter: I like it; but can he play left back? Nick: What? What do you mean? Peter: You know, can he play left back? Looks great and all, but can he play. Nick: Umm, you for real? Seriously? Ok, I have no idea, but he's got great hair! Peter: So he can't play left back? Nick: Dammit Peter, he has great hair, who cares if he can play left back! Peter: Yeah, you're right, sign him!
Makes sense to me!! Or maybe the team already bought sh*t load of souveneir wigs for the fans and now they can't exchange them for a refund??
