http://www.startribune.com/sports/187986431.html?refer=y That has to be a sign of good things right, at least that the owners feel confident about the league, Tampa signing a bunch of guys to 2+ year terms and MIN signing 2 guys that are very likely not cheap to 3 year terms.
I missed this news... Horth Signs With New England Revolution - atlantasilverbacks.com Forward Matt Horth, who spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons with the Silverbacks, has signed with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer, the club announced Friday. The 6-foot-3... This is a loss for the Silverbacks, but nice to see a talented player get a chance in MLS.
Latest... Miguel Ibarra, starting wing midfielder for the Minnesota Stars, has confirmed by Facebook post that he will be returning to the Minnesota for the coming season. The nearly omnipresent "reliable sources" report that San Jose was interested in signing him, but since Minnesota had excercised the option in his contract for this season, they didn't want him enough to pony up compensation. Barring injury, don't be surprised if he is an Earthquake this time next season. " Of course, winning The Double might influence him to stick around." hopes That little old jersey collector Me

Chris Klute will remain on loan to the Rapids for 2013. Amazing as bad as we were at times, that we have two players in the MLS. I hope we got some comp on the Horth deal, but I doubt we had him under contract. With Klute, I expect we are making some money there. Now take it and sign someone we can get excited about. I like the core we have in place now, but we need a few more difference makers.
Now we're finally building a team The Silverbacks just signed a loan deal for El Salvador national team defensive midfielder Richie Menjivar. Another one of Wynalda's Cal FCC connections. That's four players in past week. We also signed defender Mark Bloom, midfielder Pablo Cruz, and forward Jahbari Willis. Willis is a big dude who played well last year at times. And Cruz helped turn us around late last season. Don't know much about Bloom. But he played college ball up the road in Rome (yeah, the one in Georgia).

From the Silverbacks homepage... ********************* With preseason training camp set to begin this weekend in Atlanta, the Silverbacks have released a list of trialists who will be coming in to fight for a 2013 roster spot. Several of the players were discovered at the Silverbacks’ local combines, held in December and January, and the NASL combine, which just took place a few weeks ago in Fort Lauderdale. Here is the list of preseason trialists, with brief information on each of them below: Brad Stisser Isaiah Ferguson Lubo Kocic Ferrety Sousa Ryan Roushandel Mark Withers Brandon Manzanelli Matt Mason Stisser, who knows Coach Haynes from his time with the Real Colorado Foxes, played with USL side Charlotte Eagles last season. The 26-year-old forward actually scored a goal against the Silverbacks in a preseason fixture in Charlotte last season. A former Trinidad and Tobago youth international, Ferguson played for the New York Red Bulls Academy prior to playing college soccer – first with University of South Carolina-Upstate and then University of South Florida. He plays as a midfielder. Kocic comes to Atlanta on trial after spending part of the 2012 season with the San Antonio Scorpions. The Serbian-American midfielder has experience training and playing in Spain and Puerto Rico, and played his college soccer for the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Competing at the Silverbacks combine in Atlanta and the NASL combine in Fort Lauderdale, Sousa impressed the Silverbacks coaching staff. The Raleigh native helped lead the RailHawks U-23 team to a USASA national championship. Roushandel, a former standout at the University of Central Florida, has played professionally with Costa Rican side Brujas FC and Puerto Rican side Sevilla de Puerto Rico. A player that has experience training and playing in Mexico, Ecuador, and Germany, Withers is a skillful outside midfielder that has impressed many scouts, including those at the 2012 InfoSport Combine. Manzonelli signed with Spanish giants Villareal CF in 2006, appearing in numerous games for their youth sides. After going on trial in England, the St. Louis native signed with the New England Revolution, making his debut in the U.S. Open Cup against the Richmond Kickers. The 23-year-old midfielder has also played with the U.S. U-20 National Team, making four appearances and recording three assists. Mason played high school soccer for Ohio powerhouse Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy – the same school that produced former Silverbacks forward Matt Horth. The forward was then recruited to play for Caleb Porter at the Universtiy of Akron. *********************** Manzonelli sounds like he was a player. I hope he's still got some game. Only 23. Anyone know anything about him?

FC Dallas or San Antonio fans, what do you think of this guy? http://www.atlantasilverbacks.com/pro/news/Silverbacks-Sign-Mexican-Forward-Luna Silverbacks Sign Mexican Forward Luna With leading scorer Matt Horth departing for Major League Soccer in the offseason, the Atlanta Silverbacks needed to add firepower to their attack. The club did just that on Tuesday, announcing the signing of former FC Dallas forward RUBEN LUNA, pending USSF approval. “We were faced with the difficult situation of replacing a natural goal scorer in Matt Horth, but by signing Ruben, we have found someone who can very capably fill that role,” said Silverbacks Head Coach BRIAN HAYNES. “Putting the ball into the back of the net is what he does best, and if given the opportunity, I believe he can be one of the top scorers in the league. He is also a very unselfish player that does a great job getting his teammates involved in the attack.” Luna, a native of Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, grew up in the United States, joining the FC Dallas Academy in high school. After scoring 38 goals in 27 games and being named U-16 U.S. Development Academy Player of the Year in 2009, FC Dallas signed Luna to a contract in 2010, making him the second Homegrown player in franchise history. He became a poster child for how the MLS academy system is supposed to work, and soon after, appeared in his first MLS game. The 6-foot forward would go on to make over 30 appearances for FC Dallas from 2010-2012, tallying four total goals – two in league play and two in the CONCACAF Champions League. He helped FC Dallas reach the MLS Cup Final in 2010 and also led the MLS Reserve League in scoring in 2011, with 10 goals in just nine games. Luna isn’t a complete stranger to the NASL, having spent a short time on loan with last year’s regular season champions, the San Antonio Scorpions. He has also been playing with the Silverbacks this preseason, appearing in the club's first three preseason games in March.
Well he did not pan out in MLS, NASL may be a better fit for him, not bad maybe he can find his scoring touch for you guys.
I think he has the potential to be a good player. I think that worst case scenario you guys have a good depth player and best case scenario he puts it all together and becomes the player Dallas thought he was going to become.
