Not a good day for BigSoccer in general it seems. I'm running low on time for today but like blech I expect we'll have to wrap up tomorrow anyway. No big deal, again we're well ahead of our goal for completion anyway. I'll check in again one more time shortly before I go; if anyone is sure to be around and wants me to send a proxy so the draft can be completed (that would logically be either Furby the superproxy or blech), post that request here and I'll send it to you. Otherwise I'll check in tomorrow morning to see where we are. We do have another round and a half to go but overall I'd say this is the best draft I've been part of in as long as this league has run, so well done to all.

Re: Official 2007-08 Sand League Draft Thread i thought i'd re-post this since we now have the "multi-quote" feature - i suppose it will have it's uses, but probably just going to make posts longer by including more quoted material.... i'm also available to take the proxies if you want to send them to me - i should be around pretty regularly for the rest of this weekend - but since the only intrigue for me at this point is finding out which goalies are left, i'm content to have this slow down my guess is people have tried to check in, and been met by the "hiccup" announcement, and who knows when they'll look again - curious to see what all these ugrades are about (in addition to multi-quoutes) as i was also exeriencing loading issues (in an odd way, i'm glad to know it's others and not just my computer!) post-draft analysis thread to begin soon ?!?!? let the games begin....

Re: Official 2007-08 Sand League Draft Thread I would suggest that people continue to check in throughout the day, but that whenever you are signing off for the day, you send me a pm with your proxy picks. Again, if you prefer that I not see your entire list, send them to me in order (1st proxy, 2nd proxy, etc), and I will only open each successive one if the earlier one is unavailable. In any event, the lists are very short at this point and don't go beyond 3 choides, and in fact some people (glory and ingro (and then gunners/furby since ingro already has that proxy)) could go ahead and make their picks now since the positions that need to be filled for the last round need are settled. But I suppose proper draft etiquette says to wait..... Here are the proxies I would need after Nicephoras picks: sizal - 1st and 2nd choice goalie crazy - 1st and 2nd choice defender glory - 1st choice forward riot - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice defender ingro - 1st choice midfielder gunners - 1st and 2nd choice midfielder blech - and then i'll take the last goalie and given nicephoras' cash situation, sizal and crazy may actually be assured of getting their first choice if they're going for someone 5.5 or higher, in which case they wouldn't even need a second proxy. i'm on the west coast and will check in later and then again very late; so, please consider sending me your proxies if you're signing off for the day and then hopefully i can finish this up by the end of the day.

Re: Official 2007-08 Sand League Draft Thread Wow, thanks for your excellent analysis, blech. I'm in the same boat as glorydaze -- I can and will check in sporadically until late tonight EST. But since it seems that I'd actually be the fist in line to pick my final MF anyway, if things haven't progressed by then I'll go ahead & send you my proxy. Secrecy isn't that huge an issue anyway; if he were such an important pick I'd have been kinda stupid to leave him for round 15 anyway. Drafts often end with the order breaking down for just this reason, but let's give it today for people to make their picks in the usual way before we go with the anarchy method. Remember, though, that one motivation for getting this draft done is that once the final pick is made, we freeze for 24 hours, then can start tweaking our squads & adding new transfers since the database froze when the draft began. The longer we dilly dally, the longer we have to wait to make changes.

Amazing. Still nothing. So I'll need a second, but I propose we follow blech's proposed "order:" We dispense with draft order so we don't have to wait around for others to login when they feel like it, with the only limitation being that you can't pick ahead of someone who needs the same position and has the higher position in the draft. So we end up with several parallel "drafts" for this 15th round. Note that since Nicephoras has made his picks, we're into the 15th round, his draft is complete, so it's just a matter of making sure nobody gazumps someone ahead of him in the draft who needs the same position. I further propose that we declare the draft "complete" at midnight EST tomorrow, Monday. That would mean rosters are frozen until Midnight EST on Tuesday. After that, even if some managers haven't gotten around to making their 15th pick, the free-for-all begins. Not sure how you all feel; simply put, I've enjoyed the draft but I've had enough after 2 days of checking in every few hours for no reason, waiting for picks to be made. So like I say once someone seconds this we can proceed -- I, sizal (who's up anyway), crazybox, and glorydaze can all go ahead with our picks. And, it is going to be embarrassing if Dust finishes their draft before we do! So, as long as there is no one picking for your position ahead of you, why not copy the bracket and fill in your pick for round 15? Riot, Your the draft admin - is this cool with you? If so, Yermom, Crazies, Glory, and LSG can proceed when they want. I added the positions that each team needs to the current round 15 below - cut and paste and let's finish. I don't expect it to be an issue as I'm guessing this will wrap up early tomorrow at the latest with all picks made, but if we're going to agree on a cutoff, there needs to be a time prior to that when owners in "second" position can go ahead and make there picks, as right now we are still waiting. And, if we end up with all picks made earlier than tomorrow at midnight, then that should be the end and when the 24 hour wait period starts, right? blech, you're right -- once the last pick is made the 24 hour freeze would automatically begin. Easy to measure from the timestamp on that particular post. For those unfortunate enough to be stuck behind someone else, I do raise again the point about the 10 hour window. It's designed for just such times as these. Nicephoras made his pick, by my math (BS settings still on London time) at 7:57 PM, which would mean Sizal's window closing at 5:57 AM. So if the pick isn't made when you get up tomorrow, blech (although I'm sure it will be), I'd say go ahead. Once that's done I'll create a new "postdraft analysis" thread in which I'll list each team's current roster by position. It'll be a good chance for you to correct any mistakes in my records, and for us to talk a bit of trash about each other's teams as well.
