Sold for 25 million plus Serbian midfielder, Matic.
Benfica receive 3.5 million in objectives and a friendly match to be schedule in the summer at the Estadio da Luz. Like that part of the deal, get to see Luiz and Ramires.

Huge blow to Benfica. I think he will do great at Chelsea. Just hope Terry doesn't negatively influence him :D

You realize this guy was overrated and overpriced...He's had one good season in a Benfica shirt, last year. He hasnt done well this year and was a big reason for the awful finish two years ago (he sucked at LB).

I mean, like who you want, but let's not get things confused, he was an okay player for Benfica for a majority of his career at da Luz.

David Luiz was a beast. I wish Porto had picked him up. He had a lot of bad games but he is still young. Look at guys like Bruno Alves and Pepe. Took them a while to show their pedigree. I think he will do well at Chelsea. Maybe not make Terry retire but will be a great partner and learn a lot.

I agree with most of this, but, he never was that good. I wanted to like him, I remember him scoring against Porto years ago, one of his first games. But, I dont rate Luisao all that high, and are you to tell me David Luiz is that much better than Luisao?

I guess i still have a bad taste in my mouth from all his dismal appearances at LB.

Good luck with Matic , he is a great young midfielder and he models himself on Patrick Viera. He really is a huge huge physical presence in midfield. I think he will do great with you guys , you always seem to nurture young talent in the best of ways.

Ramires had a rocky start but has really come into his own now , a great player and I speak for all Chelsea fans that he really is becoming a fan favourite. Heres hoping to David Luiz reaching his potential with us , we really are excited to see this talent with us.

Best of luck with the league.

^ Haha, do you guys know if Luiz speaks any English?

Also, Terry usually plays LCB--same position Luiz did at Benfica--so I wonder if Luiz will play to Terry's right.

Posted this in the Former Benfica Players Thread. Why don't we keep all ex players together, or make a Simao, Ramires, Di Maria threads....

He had an absolute cracker of a game , caused Rooney problems all night and scored a spectacular goal as well.

Ramires , once again was excellent.

Barcelona interested in David Luiz for next season. Much rather see him at Barcelona than the crumbling Chelsea. The "Future Carlos Puyol". Must be the hair that attracts Barca lol

Is this an early April fools joke? This guy is horrible for Chelsea and Brazil. Benfica made a great deal selling him to Chelsea.
