Didn't give me much time to respond before posting the last part, did you? Here's my elaboration: I think you're hilarious generally and your posting regarding an inartfully stated comment about a death camp operated in Poland by Germans is equally hilarious.
No constructive comment, so you attack the poster. Guess that's par for the course though. Still haven't elaborated on why you thought it ironic, but don't worry about it. We all know why. Look, people are talking about it, CNN thought it noteworthy. I haven't uttered a single comment of personal opinion on the matter. But you don't need to post drive-by insults just because you don't also think it noteworthy. Address the matter directly or ignore it.
Really? And here I thought I was too subtle. But I did address what I thought of it. I'm good at multi-tasking.
A comment was unneccessary, as it was the subject of discussion. Others figured out how to address the matter directly without attacking the poster.
I'm still not seeing why you feel like you are under attack. If Obama had said "German" instead of "Polish," would you have posted the video? If not, why not? If so, why?
When you asked me to elaborate, I did. But because I like you so much, I'll do so again at length. I think Obama inartfully stated something that was nevertheless correct, that concentration camps were operated in Poland. The inartfulness was in the fact that the statement was interpreted, whether rightly or wrongly, as implying that Poles operated those camps when Obama knows that Germans did. The fact that a clarifying statement hasn't assuaged Polish officials is unfortunate, but at this point the whole kerfuffel is overblown. Happy Pappy?
Then why is yossarian's comment worthy of following up on? Because it implies the exact same thing as would have been implied had the president been more clear. The more you post, the more ironic you render the post yoss called ironic in the first place.
You said "we all already know" the answer to this, why do you want me to repeat it? But sure I'll explain it....it's ironic, perhaps more accurately funny to me, that someone whose avatar and username reference Germany is coming to the "defense" of Poland. I thought it was amusing, but YMMV. If it makes you feel any better, I probably will also make a snarky post if Obama ever mis-phrases something about Katyn and is called out on it by a Russian.
If I was German, it "might" be ironic. But that's something you'll never have any way of knowing. So without that key detail, it's not really ironic. And for argument's sake, let's say I am indeed German. Why would it be surprising for a person of German nationality/heritage to defend the Poles? Unless you assume that modern day Germans would not defend Poles today. If you do assume that, you would have to explain the logic behind that assumption. Plenty of Americans defend Mexicans, and we have long and bitter military history with them. I personally don't find any of that ironic.
