Helton gets a yellow for wasting time, yet Artur doesn't get one every time he flopped on JJ's order

Benfica has managed to drop 8 points in 2 weeks, that has to be a kind of record. This team has gone from high flying to straight free fall.

Funny to see all the SLB fans throwing trash and objects on to the field. flipping off and swear at the cameras and players, monkey chants all over national TV. I'm sure there are good ones out there

Why aren't they in the cage?

JJ is LFV's butt buddy, but JJ has to go. The team was playing amazing football a tad over a month ago and they've fallen apart. The team hasn't been the same since that Zenit game and you have to blame the coach and players for that. This was a messy game with a ton of fouls, but kudos to Porto for showing the hunger and aggression needed to win this game. The third goal was offside, but it was pretty close to tell on the pitch in those situations.

I stick with what I said a week ago or so, the momentum has shifted and Porto has the title. I know there are plenty of games to be played, but they have a lead to play with now and we won't catch them. I thought JJ was a good coach when he came over from Braga, but the guy showed what a clown he was at Liverpool in the Europa and he's been a clown ever since. I think there is a chance that Braga finishes 2nd. That'll be funny...really funny.

We can't blame this one on Javi not being there. I think it's time to put Gaitan on the bench and give Bruno a start out a wide. The guy has done absolutely nothing.

Porto has more playmaker's than us. James is VP's Ace in his back pocket. Always put's this guy in late in games and he always ends up deciding games one way or another.

Hat's off to Porto, they to came to our house and looked the more hungrier team.

This game deserved to be a draw....as for the Maicon goal, you would figure the ref would get a 2nd opinion on such an important call....bruxa power baby!! enjoy ure dooshy win Porto fans

Nope, doesn't affect my life. Not like you, you love when Benfica loses more than when Sporting wins.

Hulk's goal was great, don't get me wrong, but does anyone else think Artur's positioning was a bit suspect? Also flopping for the 3rd goal. Isn't Eduardo better than this guy?

Nah, he was positioned right and I believe he got a hand on it, just too powerful.

    And Artur > Eduardo

Goalie is the least of the worries. First is coaching and second is finishing

But Benfica never loses when Javi plays? :D

2-2 would have been a fair result but I'm not complaining in the slightest. Hulk's goal was goal of the year  Benfica's 1st was extremely lucky. Porto fouled Benfica in dangerous free kick areas too often, they made us pay with a nice set piece goal.

Subbing on James for Rolando was extremely risky but worked! James' goal was gorgeous, Porto is going to have a new superstar when Hulk leaves.

As for the Emerson red card, it was deserved. He got the first for time wasting like an idiot, a very dumb card to pick up. As for his second yellow, as a professional, he knows the risk he's taking when you slide in like that. It wasn't vicious at all but the outcome is either 1) you're going to get all ball and make a great tackle or 2) you arrive too late, miss the ball and get all player which results in a yellow card. I didn't think it was a dive from Hulk, and Emerson picked up the well deserved second card.

In fact, I think the referee was excellent. He called everything the way it should be, I didn't complain at all (and Porto picked up many yellows) and missed no big calls.

As for the 3rd goal, yes it was offside but that's on the linesmen, not the referee.

I have to give props to VP here. Porto fans (me included) have been calling for his head for quite some time but he won a BIG one today and has brought us to first place. His sub of James for Rolando worked out excellently when I thought it would fail, so hats off to VP.

I'm not making any excuses because Porto showed greater hunger to win, but how many fouls did Janko have without getting a yellow??? Ref wasn't horrible, but definitely did not favor Benfica.

If the only complaint is that a striker (not a defender) should have had a yellow, pretty good job done, ref.
