Just saw that. But then she added, "I hope there's another way." Before she had acted like she was looking forward to playing this year.
I saw that as well. Although, if you noticed on her twitter is was always Seattle related. For example: Maybe Seattle just didn't want her? Very weird.
I think perhaps her only options were Seattle or Portland for family reasons. Maybe that tweet about her not playing was just a reaction to not being signed by either one of them. She did tweet some Thorns related stuff in the last few months.
No kidding. Their midfield is stacked. Cheney, Tymrak, Dimartino, Farrelly, Scott, Buczkowski, K. Mewis
Yeah but the funny thing is Seattle had an extra free agent spot that they didnt use. The speculations was that was Ellerston's spot but she backed out for family reasons. Very strange.
Cheney may play forward as she did in college and her first few years on the USWNT. And some of those mids are just bench depth.
Maybe Seattle will trade for her? Rapinoe+unnamed player for Heath+Ellertson? Tina does live in Portland.
KC will likely play five in the midfield. They have two great holding mids in Scott and Buczkowski and a ton of mids to put in the attack. They also added another quality GK today. I think they r gonna be a handful for any team.
Kai's a steal if she's still interested. Angeli's a steal if she's healthy - she was sensational in WPS in 2010 until she got injured.
They biggest surprises for me today were with the keepers. Boston (just Santiago) Portland (LeBlanc) and Seattle (when Hopes away u get Kopmeyer or Betos) all could have used Henderson or Henninger yet they went to WNY & KC both kinda late.
So Kaley Fountain, drafted by Seattle, just tweeted that she will not be apart of the NWSL. I wonder how many more of these we will see.
Again, this is why the league needed to have people apply as opposed to having the teams make up lists.
I said this a while ago, Ellertson is from Vancouver, Washington, which has a common border with Portland (the border being right in the middle of the Columbia River). In fact, they're both in the same SMSA (Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area). Having a family, she has been more logical all along as a Thorns player rather than as a Reign player. So a possible meaning of her tweet is that she won't be playing for Seattle, where she went to school, because she doesn't want to make her family move from Vancouver to the Seattle area.
Might be because I follow Seattle area bloggers, but it seems no one wants to play for the Reign. https://twitter.com/TheDanLauletta/status/299637409518333953
