Is anyone else going to do Fantasy League this season? I know I am.

One big change from last season- changing formations. We aren't going to be stuck with just the 442.

I'll be playing again. I'm not really concerned about the formations (it really just makes it harder for novices to compete, as the best formation will almost always be the one with the most forwards as they score the most points on average but the default will probably still be 4-4-2). I hope they do something to fix the problem of players who play multiple positions and allow us to put them in whichever spot we prefer that they qualify at rather than forcing them in to one position.

I am definitely in again... it feels like about 3 years since the last one ended.

Yes. I don't believe you can set your lineup for the new season, yet.

I wonder what they are waiting for? Opening matches are 2 weeks from tomorrow.

I'd guess they are probably waiting for final rosters to be released.

I wouldn't sleep on Carli Lloyd.
She was arguably the BEST player in the Semifinal and Championship match last year.
She just needs to be more consistent on her finishing, but if so, she can be a FORCE at the club level.
This is refreshing to see, since she struggled in WPS.
But man did Portland have trouble with her last year in the championship match ..........

Based on her play so far this year, I have a feeling Lloyd could score even more goals than she did last season, and get a few assists. The problem with Lloyd is she fouls a lot, so if she's not scoring or getting shots on goal, she'll hurt your team with all the fouls. She's a high risk, high reward pick.

Looks like you can now set your lineup, even though the rosters aren't finalized (and there are some errors in the player lists, like Tymrak is listed as playing for Boston, for example).

    You didn't hear?
She was traded for Bianca D'Agostino and a 4th round pick.

That'd be more believable if they both hadn't played for their normal teams today.

Right, they both did, then they have to get their Physical, drug screening, and background check, and then they're off to their new teams. The 4th round pick also has to have a drug screening, but I'm not sure how you drug test an empty slot. The draft hasn't occurred yet.

Wow you aren't kidding, they also had Holiday listed as a forward and some players are missing all together. Couldn't find Robinson.

I'd like to see them do away with formations all together and just do 3 pots to pick from, Keepers, Defenders, Midfield/Forwards.

Well a 4-3-3 will probably get you more points, right?

But I do not see where to change formations.

I feel like I saw something that it was taking them a little extra time to get that functionality ready, but now I can't find where - if it was a retweet or what.

    What about a 3 4 3?

Would like to see you pick 2 Keepers, 5 Backs, & 8 Midfielders or Forwards. First Keeper, 4 defenders, and 6 mids/forwards is your starting 11.

Nobody sit there and tell me somebody can pick all forwards in those starting 6 and have an advantage. Just look at the leagues top scorers/assist numbers from last year.

I agree I would like a formation functionality tho.

    Hola!

We just finished updating all the rosters per what each club officially released.

    Lots of player position changes.

Please let me know if you run into any errors.

The 3-4-3 seems to be the best formation for picking up points, as defenders are usually the players that get the fewest points.

I dunno, if you pick your clean sheets it could be very lucrative. 4 Defenders from two teams who post shutouts = 32 points.

That might happen once or twice, but getting those numbers for most of the season is going to be downright impossible unless you have a crystal ball or a Delorian. Over time you're likely to get more points from having an extra forward.

Since we can't create private groups yet, what are every fantasy team names and who's on your squad?

    Reigns of Castamere (3-5-2)

GK - Nicole Barnhart (Lydia Williams):
I'm staying away from the Portland and Dash game because it is going to be a shootout. As for the Seattle vs Boston game, there is still some uncertainty there for me so I want to see how the Reign first game play out.

Defenders - Leign Ann Robinson, Lauren Barnes, Kassey Kallman (Kate Deines): As you can tell, I'm banking on SBFC not scoring and FCKC has a strong defense either way.

Midfielders - Jess Fishlock, Lauren Holiday, Carli Lloyd, Meleana Shim, Lianne Sanderson (Erika Tymrak): I'm going for a pretty offensive midfield and Lloyd should be a lock for any fantasy team as she's on fire right now.

Forwards - Nahomi Kawasumi, Christine Sinclair (Beverly Goebel): There will be goals in the POR/HOU match and it will be scored by Sinclair. I'm going with Naho for possible assists.
