I find it humorous that Don said to the effect that Orlando should have 10,000 STH in D3 to make MLS take notice. That would be more than half current MLS teams get (including LA). http://aol.sportingnews.com/soccer/story/2012-03-02/don-garber-orlando-now-on-mls-expansion-radar
Well . . his statement holds. That would make other teams take notice *probably bang their head against the door* If San Antonio and Orlando are both able to get into 5 digits for season tickets in the next few years . . . .you have to start looking at those markets as viable especially when you are a ticket revenue driven league.
That's not what he said (or at least what I took from the article). He's saying that Orlando is on the short list but there isn't an expansion slot open for a few years anyways. If they want to get an immediate expansion team, get 10K STs and MLS will do everything in their power to make it happen right now. That's what I got from it anyway
I believe that to hours before the start of the season this thread has been shown to be very positive for the interests of the MLS the sale of of season tickets have improved at the global level with what seems clear that the average attendance will be higher than that of last season. olegunnar thank you for keeping alive the twine. Sorry for the translation but i think that this translator is somewhat better than Google.
If he said that, I don't see what the humor in that would be. MLS isn't going after any expansion question marks at this point. The league has too many cities that are interested to waste time with that.
Actually this is exactly what he said: I have no idea what that implies, he didn't say anything more about it. I still find it humorous that the target "shocker" number he set for Orlando, isn't even being achieved by most current MLS clubs.
not a problem. like most threads of this sort everybody pitches in with new info ... i just keep the record/list up to date.
If they can't get 10,000 people to buy $15 tickets how are they going to get 10,000 to buy $40 tickets?
Interview with TFC's Director of Business Operations for Toronto FC talking season tickets and the waiting list. This officially confirms TFC is at 16000 season ticket holders, so update the team to 2012. Any new figure? Houston and Montreal still need to be selling subscriptions to the inaguration of their stages.Do not? Good start to the Houston should help them.
Whats so hard to understand? Not all markets are equal. Other markets will be more attractive on the surface [e.g. NY, Miami] If a small market team wants in, they are going to need to demonstrate ahead of time that they aren't just going to be another San Jose [10k or less fans for time immemorial]
Houston still 2 months til home opener, with 10k last update they should be able to meet their limit comfortably. The new stadium buzz alone will see them through
it isn't a matter of believing you or not it is a matter of the list is supposed to be a list of season tickets by club that can be 100% substantiated with direct links to official sources .... if you don't provide the source for me to link to then i cannot add it to the list is all ... and unfortunately the source you linked to only has (32,400) listed with no explanation as to what the number in parentheses actually means so i cannot put it on the list. it is just a random number in a box score that has no explanation and doesn't really meet the level of clear and official documentation we are trying to maintain for this list.
You are correct I think. 32,400 may not be the season ticket sales. 32,400 is the exact number that was considered a sellout in 2009 for the first home game. My guess is that the report that was linked is simply using the 32,400 as the capacity number. The capacity number is typically what is placed in the ( ) when reporting attendance. They obviously need to update their templates. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sounders/2008803898_sounders03.html
Chicago 6,000 (Mike Enrst is Chicago's director of ticketing) http://www.section8chicago.com/inde...atid=2&id=34675&limit=20&limitstart=160#60833
i am loathe to use a forum as an "official source" but looking back at the beginning of the thread i can see that it is official. i would like a better source for this but i will use it for now ...

This article states that it is 13,000 this year for the Union. Not sure if its official enough for you, but its about half way into the article. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/soccer/143073796.html
