I'm sure several you that care knew Orlando was getting a new hockey team in the ECHL and will play at the Amway Arena. But I read yesterday that the new owners and the league (ECHL) were trying to get the Solar Bears name. How cool is that?
ECHL has already laid a claim to the Solar Bears trademark. It's dated September 16, and it says it'll take about 3 months to be analyzed and granted. I have no idea if RVD still owns the trademark or not; I supposed that's what it will depend on.
That'd be cool if they can get the Solar Bear name. I was at the very last Solar Bear game ever, when they won the title right before the IHL folded. My son was 6 months old and on his best behavior for the game. Now he wants to play hockey instead of soccer. I should've known better...
