    Jon Busch cut also.

Philly looks OK on D, but almost criminally absent on offense. Every time I see a close up of their uniform, I keep half expecting to see a Pumas logo materialize.

Nice first game by Stahl. Good job. In beach volleyball we call that a "One-two, Barbecue" cause you messed up twice and you're out.

Not exactly something that helps the appearance of either the game or either team's jerseys. Plus both colors are such that when wet, they look even more dull. Both look better under other circumstances.

    Not the best TV game.

That kind of weather and still a 35K sellout with an unbeatable atmosphere. Impressive.
Yeah, they didn't look completely out of place before the red.

I'm good with an 8-nil butt-kicking, BTW. Little too much yapping from the new puppies.

Fiery coach, fiery team. Maybe it’s a communication issue. Maybe he should explain that when Novak played, he normally had the good courtesy to change the scoreboard before he drew a red. :)

I've been trying to figure out if I think Seattle is better than I thought or if Philly is worse I guessed.

    I've decided yes.

The first 45 minutes were really exciting. The second 45, not so much.

A couple of things that really jumped out at me:

    1) Seattle's first goal was an awesome team goal. Ljundberg started the play off with a nice pass and it was just pretty to watch from there. The finish itself was pretty run of the mill, the the play leading up to it was seriously impressive.

    2) Seattle's fans are amazing. Thursday night, pouring down rain, and they still manage to pack 35k+ people into the stands. At one point they said they had to cap season ticket holders at 32k? My lord that's awesome. The atmosphere looked great and I have an insane amount of respect for that teams fanbase.

    3) The Union are probably going to be on the bottom of the fair play table this year.

Seattle's attacking/passing game was impressive at times. Seriously looked good and will catch slower defenses badly.

Gonna take a few weeks for anybody to come close to matching the Unions haul from this one game :D I think they got a debut touch of the Zoltan.

On Phili: I thought Torres was awesome. I can't believe how good he is at 18. Jack Mc. still plays little league ball. THe second his team got the ball he just sprinted towards the opposing teams goal. He has skills, but he has a lot to learn. Hard game to judge with the wet turf and the red card, but I think they will be competitive if they can pick up 2 more players.

They may look a bit better with Fred back, too.

Except for the hair and small stature, I can see the similarities (including the diving). :D

Glad I put the little punk on my fantasy team again.

Anyone else notice the coverage in mlsnet!

NADA! NOTHING! ZILCH! You'd think someone might be interested in the results!

Me, I missed the last few minutes - THE Wildkitties were much more exciting!

    I ass-u-me it ended up 2-0!

    Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R]

Yeah, except for the part where most of my "recent" Zungul memories have him camped just outside the opposing penalty box picking cherries.

Thank You. Had to go to ESPN to find the stats last night.

Pretty good in every way. Part of it comes from the Sonics being ripped away to go to OKC. The majority of that just comes from stellar marketing in a great situation.

Add in Portland and Vancouver - no small part of which is the initial success of Seattle - and MLS has an entirely new portion of 2 countries solidly in hand. As an MLS Owner, the only other thing to want is to maybe borrow from some of the things that have worked so well off the field in Seattle.

If they are not, MLS will have an abundance of games that finish 9 v 10.

I was thinking a little of the opposite. I thought Seattle would pound Philly somehting bigger to nil. PHI was in the game both in the middle and at the back until the red. Seattle, especially after the red, wasn't exactly fluid. It's March and it was raining heavily, so it is what it is. Sounders were not anything special with the spraying of passes all over and lesser touches. I'd expect both to be better later.

It was nice to once again see any kind of league game. Welcome spring. Looking forward to NY v CHI.

Well, it is perfectly logical for us to believe that the yellow piping on their jerseys will surely impact their performance and make them even worse at their job.

    The referees review the uniforms:

Personally, I liked it. But not enough to pay for it myself, when I have 8-10 different shirts in my ref bag now!

No clue, but it's supposed to be a free weekend for Direct Kick, but Time Warner here in KC isn't showing it. They see that it's supposed to be on, but can't figure out why I can't see it. Oh well have an stream.

Yeah I have TW also, and the channel for the game just displays the phone # to order Direct Kick.

The new web player is nice. I'm watching the archive of the Seattle Philly game and the player has icons on the timeline scrubber for all the shots, goals and free kicks. So you can jump straight to the highlights. The icons also have mouse over tool tips that describe what happens at that point. It will be very slick once customer service fixes the incorrect blackouts.
