Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] MLSsoccer.com will launch Monday, according to Beau Dure. It also came out today that Beau is leaving USA Today, and Steve Davis is jumping from ESPN to Sports Illustrated.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Found this interesting in context of discussion about our Jimmy Nielsen signing. DC paid a $200,000 transfer fee to Valerenga for Troy Perkins, plus gave Fred, the 7th overall draft pick and financial considerations to Philadelphia for his rights. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/16/AR2010031603867.html
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Speaking of DC, they waived Szetela yesterday. There's a career that has gone the wrong way since the highs at the U-17 level. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/so..._united_cuts_szetela.html?wprss=soccerinsider
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Going to an exciting second 45 down at Toluca- at the break Columbus 1 Toluca 0 3-2 agg
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] that didn't take long, Crew came out flat and are now level.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] And KC will remain the only MLS team to win a home-home series with a Mexican league team.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Columbus came close- I wouldn't be surprised to see SSFC do some damage in the next installment, don't tell their fans I said that though
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Have you ever seen "The Replacements" with Keanu Reeves?
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] DC is going to win the Carolina Challenge Cup- good job Coach Onaflo- I hope Bara Brava are real excited.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] The reason BB should be excited is because that's all the hardware they will win this year.....right?
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/03/fire-ready-to-unload-busch.html Ives is reporting that Chicago is going to dump Jon Busch due to his guaranteed contract. If true, file this under the HOLY CRAP category. I can see some MFLS team managers scrambling now.....
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Wonder how good their GA Sean Johnson has looked in preseason, that'd be very interesting. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/03/fire-ready-to-unload-busch.html actually looks like Dykstra will start for them.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] We are going to start seeing some NFL-esque moves where veterans get dumped because of their salaries.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] http://voices.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/2010/03/garber_fumes_about_united_stad.html Garber's frustration over DC's stadium situation comes out.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Colorado waives Pat Noonan. If AC St. Louis plays their cards right, they could pick up him and John DiRaimondo (waived by DC yesterday) as St. Louis natives.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] I heard Toronto is the front runner only because NY pulled out of the race. Glad they waited until they got real grass before having it north of the border. I wonder if the Cup will ever come to KC? I mean, if they will take it to Toronto in late November, our weather surely won't scare them away, right? I'm sure we will be required to host the All Star Game first before we could be granted the Grand Poobah privilege, just to prove fans can find their way to our little stadium tucked in the middle of a shopping district out in the middle of a cow pasture.....
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] After the stadium opens, I am sure we will get both the AS and MLS Cup at some point. I doubt OnGoal will pass up those opportunities for revenue and exposure.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Question is....will MLS want to come here for such a big event. I'm sure Garber will, but ESPN may throw a fit.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] If our stadium is going to be as nice as everyone claims, they league will want to show it off. Plus, our stadium is being built HD-ready. ESPN might loving coming here if everything is technologically advanced.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] http://www.boston.com/sports/soccer/blog/2010/03/khano_in_badill.html Holy crap category. Khano might be making a comeback. I'm beginning to think Nicol has lost his mind this offseason.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] jesus. talk about a waste of money. they should make the revs make up that money. seriously, you convince mls to pay a transfer fee for a guy and then you just waive him?
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] 45 minutes played one red card one rain storm one terrible looking turf two goals one freddy celebration countless dives philly has some talent and i've been impressed at times but sounders are just an entire head above them tonight.
