Good article, btw so Russia could have conquered Paris if we wanted to ? Wtf we should have taken the entire city simply for the prestige !
There's a bridge in Paris, a beautiful bridge over Seine named after Alexander III - Pont Alexandre III.
David Glantz, who is the preeminent western scholar re: the Eastern Front, and who publishes the fascinating but terribly expensive Journal of Slavic Military Studies, has published a reference work that is a must-have for anyone interested in the Great Patriotic War: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Slaughterhouse-Handbook-Eastern-David-Glantz/dp/097176509X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1273981783&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Slaughterhouse: The Handbook of the Eastern Front (9780971765092): David Glantz, Marc J. Rikmenspoel, Scott R. McMichael, Hugh Foster, Steven Myers, Uri Khonko, Natalya Khonko, Keith E. Bonn: Books[/ame] I just got my copy yesterday, and on a day when I should have been out fishing or enjoying the nice turn of weather, I pretty much whiled the day away in the La-Z-Boy engrossed in the minutae that Glantz has put together. Wish I would have had this book when that tool Russian Scouser was around, I could have put an end to a 4 page argument back then in short order. Of course, if I recall correctly, ol' RS, "Mr. Oxford" himself, poo-poo'ed Glantz back then as a "pulp historian," because he wasn't (of course) British
Bump. With my school, I have very little time for pleasure reading, but during my winter break, I read the following: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/ancient-Alexander-Macedon-Alexandr-Makedonskiy/dp/5170559836/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1294332187&sr=1-9"]Amazon.com: In the ancient times. Alexander of Macedon / V glubi vekov. Alexandr Makedonskiy (9785170559831): Voronkova L.F.: Books[/ame] And now reading "Yunkera" by Alexander Kuprin.
The Trial by Kafka - very distinct and intriguing The Wars of the Jews by Flavius Josephus - long and confusing
wow judging by how you always respond to posts without actually reading them, im surprised you made it that far
You have to check the footnotes. For someone who consistently claims to be skeptical and critical of all official statements, you can't possibly just take a given statement as truth unless it is supported by evidence. It is the quality of citations that keeps Noam Chomsky/Sarah Palin in the literature section and books like Peter Bergen's "Longest War" in the non fiction section.
Sorry, but they write the same antagonistic drivel. It's just that you are more drawn to that version of drivel.
Sarah Palin actually wrote a book though? How does someone who thought that Africa was a country not a continent write a book?
Wow I never checked a footnote in my life that I didnt have to, and thats coming from a history major in college. Anyway Ill buy you a copy of sarah palins book if you promise to read it dima.
Wait a second here, buddy. While I am no Noam Chomsky fan, he IS a member of Academia, and an extremely learned and an intelligent man. Sarah Palin? You should realize this is a false comparison.
