well you apparently have a very good point...but it's what I read off the Dallas Texans website...lol
Oh yeah. I saw some of their girl's youth team here in San Diego at the women's College Cup. They had WPSL last year, IIRC. Pensacola, FL.
I just found yet another new expansion club for the NPSL. Merry Christmas. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Houston-Hurricanes-FC/109290832577324
The Galveston Pirate team has moved to Houston along with a name change. Houston is a much better market than Galveston Island. http://galvestonpiratesc.com/2012/12/25/houston-hurricanes-are-back-pirate-sc-go-into-history-books/
I heard two CA teams are not coming back along with FC New York. So -3 +16 is still major progress. More expansion teams are coming though. My friend works in Hershey, PA and they have been hearing that the USL/A-League Hershey Wildcats are making a comeback in the NPSL. Apparently the team had been courted by PDL, but they opted for the NPSL model. Their owner is supposed to be one of the Penn/Penn State women's soccer coaches. Any idea where PDL is with losing/gaining teams? It doesn't look like they are going to break even to be honest.
Its interesting that the Galveston owner got the name rights for a NASL team. I've always thought that NPSL is the lowest tiered league because the league tends to be poorly run. Their website is not updated much and only Chattanooga and Detroit are up and coming teams.
I'd probably throw in FC Sonic (2012 NPSL champs), Rocket City, Cleveland and Buffalo in there as well.
Expansion/Realignment news from Chattanooga FC and Chattanooga Times Free Press this evening: West division of the South Conference will be: Chattanooga FC Rocket City United Knoxville Force Mississippi Storm New Orleans Jesters Gulf Coast Texans Other Tidbits: There will be four divisions in the South Conference this season and the division champs will meet in a 4-team play-off to determine the South rep in the NPSL Final Four. One of the other divisions will be made up of the Florida and 2 Atlanta teams as previously mentioned in this thread. http://chattanoogafc.com/news/2012/12/santa-brings-bigger-division-bigger-conference/ http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/dec/26/south-key-part-of-national-premier-soccer-growth/
This article in the Chattanooga paper says there are to be four divisions (East, Central, West and an unnamed Division with the Florida teams (called the "Sunshine Conference" on the Tampa Marauders site) forming the South Conference. What I'm guessing is... WEST from the Times/Free Press.com story Chattanooga FC Knoxville Force Rocket City Mississippi Storm New Orleans Jesters Gulf Coast Texans (Pensacola) EAST? from the Virginia FC site Myrtle Beach FC Mutiny Virginia FC (DC Area) CASL (Raleigh, NC) RVA Football Club (Fredricksburg, VA) Chesterfield United SUNSHINE from the Tampa Marauders site Georgia Revolution Cape Coral Hurricanes Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves Miami United Tampa Marauders FC Jacksonville United CENTRAL? Rock City Tulsa Athletics Houston Hurricane LFC Warriors I'll try to fix it as more info comes in. EDIT- Just saw the Chattanooga story was posted. Good work, MVsoccerDad - You beat me to it.
mbsc I know you have been wondering where Myrtle Beach will end up as have I have been about CFC. I think those are good guesses on the divisions. I'd like to see a few more teams announced to even up the divisions. Hopefully the full picture will become clear soon.
Here's the NPSL South Conference, "West" Division home fields map: https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=218295523636525435812.000486909f474660f340d&msa=0 (Although, this seems more "Central" to me.)
From what I heard, there might be a new NPSL club in Lansing. This is only a rumor right now, but if the new club were to exist it would even out the Midwest division.
"In 2008, we had 22 teams total in the league. Now we're at about 60," said Rocket City United majority owner and president Andy Zorovich, who also is chairman of the NPSL board of directors.
Yet another Houston based club joins the NPSL. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rega...on-Formerly-Regals-FC/193355030725366?fref=ts
Teams will apparently play 2 matches against division rivals and 1 match against each cross division team for a total of 13 games. Additionally, while Hershey has officially been added, it appears that Scranton will not be joining for the 2013 season. Per the GBFC press release, here is the new conference alignment: Keystone North: Greater Binghamton FC, FC Sonic, Hershey Wildcats, Pocono Snow, Reading Revolution. Keystone South: Atlantic City Crusaders, BuxMont Torch, Jersey City Eagles, Junior Lone Star FC, Morris County Colonials.
