I thought it might be useful to have one catch-all thread for NPSL expansion. International Soccer Network tweeted that there are 21 possible expansion teams for next season. 1 of them is AFC Cleveland. Any ideas for the other 20?

Chris Keem (keem-o-sabi on BigSoccer), who handles expansion for the NPSL, said last week there are 16 new teams for 2012. He didn't say if any were leaving.

To my knowledge, Cleveland is just waiting on official confirmation of the league. They have a coach, stadium, tryouts, broadcast partner, etc. The broadcast partner has listed that the team is playing in the league. I think it's just down to the rubber stamp for Cleveland. I believe Cleveland will be in the Keystone division, unless there is a new league created from some of the other expansion teams.
I'll be wrapping up my work with NPSL hopefully with a bang. I anticipate 16 new teams this year with upwards of 22 bringing us close to the PDL in terms of size. It's been fun working for the league the last 3 years, as I've been in charge of bringing in 45 new teams in that time. I probably will be done at the end of this month with all of the NPSL work so it will be sad to leave, but I believe I left it in better hands than when I started with Queen City FC (now FC Buffalo) back in the fall of 2006, to go from 12 teams (adding in the Northeast which made it 17 teams then) to what could be 53-57 teams makes me happy viva la NPSL

So it looks like this right now, assuming all the 2011 teams return. Release says league still looking at other possible new members for the region. I have not been to AFC Cleveland's fan page in months. But its over 2800 fan likes!!! that’s pretty awesome. It will be great to have Soccer in Cleveland, such a huge market that needs a team. Everything that AFC Cleveland has done so far has been pretty impressive. Most of the credit for 6th City has to be given to RJ from AO Cleveland. He designed the logo and has a lot of know how. Having the AO here makes it a lot easier for us to recruit people for the supporters group. I have to think we'll be a lot bigger than the Green Army ever was. I'm really hoping we could get around 50 people every game.
Great news for Cleveland and the league. The NPSL is growing by leaps and bounds and this is going to be a great market for them. Hopefully NE Ohio businesses will get behind this team so they don't go the way of the City Stars.
I am so impressed by the NPSL this off-season. They are really emerging as a league. USL has to be worried about how the league is continuing to grow.
Anyone hear anything on ownership changes? There was a pretty strong rumor going around the one of the San Diego threads that SD Boca FC will merge/be sold to the Club Tijuana Xolos of the Primera Division to be used as a lower level squad and US marketing tool. Any truth to it?
So, what's the deal in the Magnolia State? Is GC Crew not coming in? Did they rebrand as MS Storm (I saw that they just used the Columbus logo).
Wow - this came in under the radar... Great news for the Western Conference North division...Humboldt is a bit remote, and there are not a lot of players to draw from...but I bet they can get some players to come up from Sonoma/Marin Co if they put on a good show. Any other news on the Western Conference???
AFC Cleveland says it will have a major announcement this week. I'm guessing it'll be that they're (officially) in the NPSL and their stadium. I'm 99% sure of what stadium they're going to use, but I'll let them announce it. I will say, however, it is not either of the stadiums the City Stars used.
Heard all of the teams are just waiting for the league before making an announcement. That's probably the holdup for Cleveland.
