Norway are expected to line up in this 4-5-1 formation

    Rune A. Jarstein (Viking)

    Tom Hogli (Club Brugge)
    Vadim Demidov (Real Sociedad)
    Brede Hangeland (Fulham) -cap.-
    John Arne Riise (Fulham)

    Daniel Braaten (Toulouse)
    Markus Henriksen (Rosenborg)
    Alexander Tettey (Rennes)
    Morten Gamst Pedersen (Blackburn)
    Tarik Elyounoussi (Fredrikstad)

    Mohammed Abdellaoue (Hannover 96)
    ___

Hangeland a tower at the back,
he's partnered with Demidov who's more of a playing central defender having started out his career as a midfielder. Riise will be attacking as always from the left fullback position.
New key player for Norway, Havard Nordtveit had to pull out of the squad.
His replacement to anchor the midfield will be Tettey, of ghanian descent, athletic but limited player.
Around him there'll be Henriksen, who I guess you can compare with Henderson in style and quality. And Blackburn's Gamst Pedersen, who should be well known to most. Now playing in the middle and furthest of the midfield trio, he's likely to be a goal threat.
The wide men Braaten and Elyounoussi will have defensive responsibilities, but be aware they are both originally forwards so there's many attacking players with finishing qualities.
The star of the norwegian side these days are on top, Mohammed Abdellaoue who's doing great and scoring 1 in 2 in the german bundesliga. I'm not convinced he'll have a very good international career with Norway though, cause despite his quality he doesn't seem to do very well in the lone stirker role. He'd be far more effective in an old school 442.

Keep an eye out for Valon Berisha (19) coming off the bench as well, perhaps the best prospect in norwegian football at the moment.

I'd like a bit of your optimism, mate! These injuries are a bit of a worry for me - I can see Parker breaking down. People have realised you don't have to be the "best team" to win but I wouldn't want us to become too defensively minded (in the actual tournament). Man U tried the Chelsea approach against City and were embarrassingly impotent in attack.

Let's hope Carroll can do the biz and get his England career up and running.

Yeah, I'm just looking forward to how we line up today, and personnel involved. I'm assuming a 4-2-3-1...

Can't believe Carroll is playing. Downing should be nowhere near the squad either... Nor Henderson. Absolutely abysmal decisions from Hodgson.

Can't really complain with Carroll starting given the form he's been in recently, injuries to Welbeck and Rooney not playing the first 2 games.. but really it is an absolute sh*te line up. Truly awful.

Downing on the left, how many more times do we have to see him get to a 1 on 1 situation before passing it back or dribbling it out of play? How many more times do we have to see Milner running endlessly down the right side doing jack sh*t - he isn't a winger ffs

How many more times do we have to see more deserving, creative, and better players being left out.

What is it with recent England managers and Downing and Milner!

Just seen it on TV. (Bolded) WHY?:(

PS. Sorry to say, but Carroll is gonna be bad. I don't suppose we have any choice if Welbeck has a knock. Is this the weakest we have ever been for striker options?

At least they are on the correct wings.
Capello often played Milner on the left and Downing on the right .
Or is Roy gonna spring that one too ?

Because any time you've got the chance to build your team around 3 players from a side that finished 8th in the league, you've got to take it. Oh Woy.

I hope not.. I don't think I would be able to watch if that happened.

Milner is good as a workhorse in a 3 man midfield.. but as a winger? He has no creativity.
This is gonna be a hard game on the eyes I think..
