If people are still looking to go to the game, a couple of people from HSH are getting a 15 passenger/small bus together. Contact them on the HSH facebook page for info. Also, I think we were due to have a #NorOnTour shirt. Here is my rendition. What do you think?
Just out of curiosity, where is the team staying? I am still on the fence as I am a few thousand miles away right now, but my plan is to get home on Thursday, drive in on Friday and have a big Saturday before sleeping in on Sunday and heading home. Where are all you Crew fans sitting? I will probably buy tickets and book the hotel on Thursday night. As far as the hooliganism goes, It is all fun till some little kid gets his scarf stolen by some retarded TFC fan after perhaps, said retard got fired up by one of our, "just having a little fun" guys who decided to stir things up even though there were kids in the group. It was why on a not so long ago trip to Chicago, we sat alone proudly wearing our colors and cheering on our team. You might remember the game, it was the one wear the fire fans decided that they were such great fans that they actually set the bleachers on fire!
Starting to worry a little about my tickets. I have emailed Kevin twice without any response. I won't be in the cbus area. I can just go through the DC front office if he won't response.
I'm gonna be in the District at least a day ahead of time so I'm down with a 3:30 tailgate. What time is everyone else getting there?
Well if I get tickets we will be in the DC area early Saturday like noon. So I am thinking we would be down to be there early as well.
Wishin I could have the $$ to have still gone along! 3/20's my bday and DC would have no doubt been an appropriate use of a bday weekend.
I'd suggest getting tickets with the rest of Crew supporters, going to be cheaper than anything you can get through their front office. I've never seen issues with Crew fans in DC and I've been to RFK for away matches at least 5 times.
Best Yakov Smirnoff voice - "In Nation's Capitol... TROUBLE FINDS YOU!!!" Lulz... fortunately that car has been taken out to pasture and shot.
I just realized that my hotel doesn't have check-in until 4 PM on Saturday. I'm going to try to get them to allow early check-in so I can get down to the stadium and throw back a few brews, but we will see.
One of my best soccer buds is a DC United fan and we're making the road trip from Columbus with wives and friends in tow. Since it's his homefield advantage, we're all going along to the Screaming Eagles tailgate session in Lot 8 (but I and a few others will be proudly sporting our Crew gear). I'm optimistic and hoping we won't run into any trouble. Any advice? If you see a few Crew supporters in a sea of DC United on the way to/from the stadium or inside, give us a shout.
Agreed, not a bright idea. Those guys are arrogant pricks for the most part, but I guess at least they are nicer than Barra Brava.
You may want to post your pictures here so one of us can come identify you in the morgue after the game.
I know that Patrick, LaMacchia and I are def looking forward to this trip. We have already been warned about the crap shoot that is the RFK press box, so this should be interesting.
Agreed that it is a bad idea and if the outcome of the game is as we hope, the way out could be even worse.
