Here is the original article linking Steve and Köln

    http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussb...-cherundolo/koeln-baggert-am-abwehr-star.html

    - apparently, Brecko, who is already at Köln, is too defensive for coach Soldo and the transfer of Albin Ebondo (Toulouse) looks like it is not going to take place

concerning Steve re-upping (is that a word) with Hannover

Hannover 96 Sportdirektor Schmadtke: "We are not yet on the same page as far as finances and length of contract are concerned."

Cherundolo's agent Harun Arslan: "There are a number of Bundesliga clubs who have Steven in their sites ...but Hannover is priority #1 for us. Our goal is to come to an agreement with 96."

Any idea how much his wages are or how much Roma is offering him?

If this man really wants to transfer from Hannover, then 1 or 2 more performances like today should give him some even better options.

Yeah I would think clubs around the status of say, Aston Villa, would be interested in Cherundolo after tonight.

I have no reason in particular for bringing up Aston Villa. :D

I hope he plays like this throughout the WC, but I pray he never leaves Hannover, ever... :D

Steve was absolutely wonderful tonight. He looks like he's in another class along with Dempsey, Donovan and Howard.

Has to be careful against Slovenia-he's on a yellow.

    Great job though.

I'm ecstatic for him. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many American fans gave up on him because of Spector's 2 crosses last summer. Then all Cherundolo does is be one of the best players for the US against a stacked England squad.

That Roma suddenly doesn't feel so far-fetched now does it? Like I said before, Serie A is the place for veteran defenders. Dolo would fit in perfectly.

Roma would be quite an offer to turn down but I bet he would find legendary status if he were to retire with Hannover.

Cherundolo wil re-sign for 2 years plus 1 year option

Sounds as final as it can get... verbal agreement, contract to be signed

I wonder if it is a player option or team option.

The team can decide on the option. This is awesome, I am sure he will stay at the club when he's done playing as an active player (unless he wants to finish his career at an MLS club...)

Who knows. I could also picture him going back to San Diego, raising a family there and opening a football school.

I think if you're from southern California there is only so much of our weather you can take.

He would be one of the few one-club men in the modern game.

His girlfriend (wife?) is from here though. I just think he has better chances here concerning his career. Wherever they chose to live, they are gonna visit that other city of his life quite often anyways.
