http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id...eader-creed-nickelback-world-most-hated-bands Some light reading for you........
I asked my buddy a while back about all the Nickelback hate and he couldn't explain it to me. Can somebody fill me in? I don't understand it. I'm not a fan or anything but I have no clue about all the hatred and why it happened all at once. Is it just the popular, hip thing to do?
They're lyrics are simplistic, their music isnt at all creative, and it basically all sounds the same. It has no passion, no soul, no nothing. It is just empty, bland sound. I actually dont think Creed is as near as bad as Nickelback. I actually like a couple of Creed songs.
I don't think it's so much that they're Teh Worst, as it is the inexplicableness of their fame, ubiquity and longevity. It's incredibly difficult to pinpoint exactly what their appeal is.
I see. I only hear them occasionally on the radio when driving around. How about Linkin Park? What's the word on them? They're one of the only current rock bands that I listen to. Should I keep it a secret from others?
I have to admit that I like the song, "Into the Night" with Santana by Nickelback. I always fantasize about a beautiful latina woman dancing all over me when I hear it.
I don't think I've ever actually heard a Nickleback song, at least not knowingly ... but I hate them just to be on the safeside. It's for the best.
Dave Matthews John Mayer Journey Styx Those will make me swerve out my lane more than Nickelback, which is merely forgettable and mundane, like Hootie & the Blowfish.
I'm pretty sure you're old enough to remember how bad Foreigner was. So I took the liberty of fixing your post
AIEEEEEE! Ahem. What I meant to say is that I particularly agree with this particular nominee for worst band ever.
John Mayer's "bear suit" gag and his collaborations with Dave Chapelle give his otherwise mundane music (IMHO) a pass in my book. Journey is somewhat redeemable for "Don't Stop Believin" and "Anyway You Want It" Styx is awesome.....in the same way that the movies the guys watch in MST3K are awesome. But Dave Matthews.....I can't switch the radio station quick enough when one of his songs is played. And oh yeah....Hootie is awful.
I spent a summer in Nags Head and I think I must have heard Cold As Ice 700 or 800 times going in and out of stores. Seriously. But then Foreigner 4 came out, and that was a fine album. Oh god, that hair. That surely must get some votes of it's own....
