What if Donovan joining Becks in Miami, or playing/coaching the new Chivas (or other team in MLS) later on...will you call him an enemy then, or just won't because he is Donovan? *This is serious question*
Well, if he joins Chivas in any capacity he gets an assumed mental illness pass. If he joined Miami....no, still not the enemy. Not after all these years.
Take off our shirt and use your talents to beat LAG...yes, thats how I define "enemy." Maybe a respected enemy, but an enemy. Sigi is an enemy. Tim L. is an enemy. Robin Fraser coaching Chivas was an enemy. If LD were to cross that line, yes. Don't you think the SJE fans who adored him think he is now the enemy? I have a clear standard in mind and unlike a basketball referee, I apply it consistently. There is no star system that gives some people passes. A mark of a small mind, I guess.
Depends what you mean by an enemy. Would I root against his team? Of course. But if he came back for a Galaxy old timers game, I wouldn't boo him. Becks as well.
Agree, I wouldn't boo. In fact, the FIRST time he came back in other colors, I would probably cheer as a measure of respect and thanks for his services. But, after that, he would be fair game for razzing like any other opposition.
It's time for team Beckham to start bribbing guys. Nothing like under the table payoffs and maybe a few mob ties to quite opposition.
Becks - BBC documentary http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-ahead-World-Cup-film-Amazon-documentary.html
Beckham contemplating a return to the game. I would assume at this point if – and it’s a big if – but if he did it would be with Miami // edit: although since he retired wouldn’t LA still own his rights? How hilarious would it be to demand he play for LA against Miami. http://www.itv.com/news/london/2014...ay-come-out-of-retirement-after-a-tough-time/
"At the end of the day, its all about being the center of attention - even if I need to float ridiculous ideas to do it."
Look no offense to becks and to Mr. Cadaver but isn't he a little you know old? I mean sure Giggs played into his 40's for ManU but even the great Giggs could NOT handle playing week after week in the searing Miami heat (Not to be confused with the Miami CHeat). Then remember the hot Texas 1 or 3 pm kickoffs? I mean Becks has done it before but it's just asking way too much from your body at nearly 40 to run around with the youngins. I don't know maybe it's just me but I would advise him against it, His legacy is set and he went out on top a back to back champion no need to besmirch the memories.
Becks will do it just for fun. He'll come on a couple games a year as a 15min sub is my guesse (if he decides to do ti).
Roster spots are too valuable to waste "for fun." Unless, of course, you are running the team and don't care if it wins.
Hey, Miami might be his only change to play afterall---what coach is going to say "no" to the owner? Particularly David Beckham? Actually, if the first year of the team is a building year where they aren't contending---why not? Might put butts in the seats.
Becks stadium plan rejected http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ont-football-stadium-Miami-rejected-city.html
It sure doesn't seem like the city is really working hard to try to figure out a site, any site. Because I guess if you've got David Beckham trying to build a state-of-the-art stadium and bring MLS soccer to what really should be an MLS hot-bed if done right, you need to do your best to discourage it?? I get it that one site might not work out, etc., but it sure seems like they are totally unmotivated to try and make something happen.
