Maybe it's partly because of the sport, but simple mistakes have been treated as much more than simple mistakes in the past by the USADA.
When I first read the BS post on Hope Solo taking menstrual medication and getting busted for it I thought it was a joke and I thought WPSMovement was making stuff up again Then I realized it was another poster and it was a real story, then I still went WTF.... I still need to read the original article but that's probably the last thing I would have guessed I would hear about Hope Solo.
Just remember: Hope Solo's goal rage? Those are her on a PMS drug. (Or, as one person tweeted, she thinks the drug was a placebo. ) Anyway, all's well that ends well I guess. The story is just funny (to me).
My understanding is that the WADA and USADA procedures and rules were adjusted after that skeleton guy got zapped for his hair club for men type medication right b/f the last winter Olys. He got zapped for a drug that's now not even on the banned list anymore. iirc, there's now a (short?) list of drugs that if athletes cooperate and are able to show "accidental" or "unaware use" or whatnot they can just get a warning and not a ban.
also the drug she was prescribed did not apparently have any banned substance, but it metabolized after being taken into canrenone. btw, wambach in espn the magazine's body issue. http://espn.go.com/espnw/photos/gallery/_/id/8135372/image/10/bodies-want-2012
Analysis of US chances and the recent changes in lineup and formation by Jeff Carlisle on ESPN: Ready for London
Article about Becky Sauerbrunn on front page of today's Washington Post sports section: Becky Sauerbrunn, U.S. women hope Olympic success spurs renewed interest in pro league

The fan page on Facebook for the US Women's National Team is being forced to be taken down by US Soccer. I think we should let US Soccer know that this is absurd. Having a fan page removed is injurious to the growth of soccer in general and to women's soccer particularly. Let them know how you feel by going to: http://www.ussoccer.com/About/Federation-Services/Resource-Center/Contact-Us/Contact-Us.aspx and selecting the Communications/PR link. Sad and unfortunate story. I'll write in my own response. Steve Davis not pleased about a write-up on Hope and Alex from the Daily Record: http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/...n-media-just-ask-the-u-s-olympic-womens-team/
Good to see the team having some fun in Glasgow and making this parody video to Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA".
I wish these women would focus on the game and winning a single tournament instead of prancing around making a silly video and behaving like little girls. During the WWC final, it was a huge disappointment and totally unacceptable for Americans that they lost to Japan were not number 1. I remember almost crying at the loss and incredibly angry at the fact that they failed to win a World Cup when it was their moment to shine. I will be incredibly angry and bitter if they lose another tournament and get a silver medal.
I'm convinced the US fans have both some of the best and some of the worst fans of all the teams. Glad the other forums I've seen are enjoying the music vid at least.
It's nice for them to have fun, they can't be focused 100% of the time otherwise they would become crazy.
I laughed. And was glad it wasn't another "Call me maybe" one. Excellent parody of an hyperbolic fan. Wait. You aren't being serious, are you? my biggest complaint about the video is that not everyone was in sinc w/ the music. in general, it was pretty funny.
No I wasn't being serious but they could have chosen another song other than Miley Cyrus at the same time. I have no problem with them having fun as long as at the end of the olympics they are at the finals So I still want them in the finals.
I was on the middle of sending a complaint to the Federation as well, then I saw the above post. I'm wondering where are they right now. I will change my wording and rather ask them to try to reach an agreement with the fans page admins. Can anyone provide a link to the fan page please?
NBCOlympics.com has a feature on Hope's autobiography and gives some excerpts from the book http://www.nbcolympics.com/news-blogs/soccer/hope-solo-autobiography-book-excerpt-solo-a-memoir-of-hope.html
just read a section and came here to post the link. you beat me to it. part 5 was pretty riveting - to me at least.
An article on ESPN regarding Rapinoe. http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/st...egan-rapinoe-ready-london-games-jeff-carlisle Forgot all about Rapinoe's MCL injury last November.
