nothing new...too bad it takes this for people to maybe finally believe that he doens't treat players right....his lies just keep getting bigger and bigger.
Another great PB Post article, this one on Christie. I'm new to following this league and had not heard the celebration story. Plus the quote from Abby is hysterical: http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports...a-ratons-magicjack-balances-life-1750998.html
magicJack 3 v 1 Breakers Abby scored 2 & Rapinoe 1. Good game. Fun to watch on TV even though the camera work left a bit to be desired. On to Philadelphia for the super-semi.
Fun game to be at also. MJ let them hang around a bit longer than they really should have, but finally finished better. Added a big bank of bleachers since I went last 3 weeks back, also had a nice setup for FSC installed. I'm guessing around 3K fans. Brutally humid even though a half hour later than last time. I sat the row in front of Pia (and her US assistant, whose name I forget), couple of seats down, which was fun. She signed a bunch of stuff for kids at HT and was great.
Check out a few videos from the MagicJack game I posted on my blog. I had to chuckle. That's like saying: Mia Hamm. Former American forward. mJ definitely had control of the match last night. I do wish Abby would have subbed herself out for De Vanna at the 70-75th minute. If Ellertson's hamstring (a recurring problem) isn't good for the Philly game, that could be a problem. She's one of the ones that I thought should have been rested in the last reg. season game. I'll be cheering for mJ vs Philly. While I like Kai and one or two other players on that team, I am not a fan of the team in general. Abby needs to get her sub plan together for that game, though. She's going to need to make some moves during the game.
Yep, that was her. Yeah, Riise was pretty good. Can't believe I could not remember her name. It was funny though, out of 100+ people asking Pia for photos and autographs, I saw only one include her. I don't know about Ellertson though, it was the second game where she did not impress me at all, horrendous first touch. Thought her sub was better. I was expecting Abby to go out too, but I thought she looked nowhere near as hurt as three weeks ago.
I must say that on a whole there seemed to be an older crowd at the match. Adults and older teens were there in numbers. Yes there were kids but they were in no way the majority. Heck there was even a 70 plus single older woman next to me. Should have got her name before she left (i was busy searching for my car keys). I hope I am still going to footie matches even if by myself at 70. She did say if there is another season...she will be at the next game "
We can but hope that we'll have them next year. They've added much positive to the soccer scene in South East Florida. I'll be 70 next season & I'm thinking of somehow or other getting season tickets for MJ to go with my Striker season tickets. Maybe I'll hit a lotto or something....
Well this is south florida...how can they not have a senior discount???? If they return next year I will get season tickets as well.
yep, 62+ gets the same cheaper tix that the kids get the real discount though, is buying tix in person and avoiding ticketbastar
Don't think this has been posted yet, just saw it myself--a (pretty funny) peice from NBC Sports's Rick Chandler on the recent err, "issues" surrounding the team: http://offthebench.nbcsports.com/20...entor-of-magicjack-sues-wps-to-keep-his-team/ But really my favorite parts are... (and MAD props to emeybee for the second one):
Although it does look odd the "lawn batmobile" is actually a 3 wheel motorcycle - a CanAm Spider Roadster...
In July the WPS Players Association — including Solo and Wambach — filed a grievance against him, resulting in him being banned from his own sideline. Wambach was made player/coach. Hahaha.
Briana Scurry was at today's game a few seats down from us. My friend went over and talked to her at halftime about various topics, including (eventually) magicJack. She pointed out that the players were being classy by not saying a whole lot about the situation, but on the other hand no one had stepped up in defense of Borislow, either, giving the impression that maybe there's even more going on behind the scenes than we know about. Briana just nodded.
