Purple is already too similar to our current blue color. The new shirt has to be completely different so we can go to Montreal, New England, and DCU and not have to force them to wear white.
I'm hoping the top ditches the stripe and goes solid. Kinda like a chelsea or sporting kc...classic looking.
This. I have no problem with purple in general -- walk around Baltimore some time and you'll see people are fine with that color for a sports team -- but it is too close to our standard dark blue to be a versatile third jersey. I think a bright yellow jersey (with or without the central stripe) would be a great change of pace. Just have a secondary color or elements so that it is distinct from the Crew's look.
All flag blue with yellow accents? Something that's nothing like the current jerseys. This would be an opportune time for me to have a visual example...
What you think of these third jerseys I made. I used this forum and the Atoms for a throwback template. My favorite is the white although it can be a bit bland.
Like the yellow/navy but the Union's "thing" seems to be that Ajax-like vertical stripe. So....maybe run the sponsor vertically and add a bit of sky blue to the piping (instead of Navy) and yeah, I'd buy it.
