According to the "New Stadium Seating Map" that the new stadium ticket sellers handed out at Buck Shaw last summer as they marketed suites and club suites, the bottom supporters section has six rows. Who knows if that is still the case?
I hope its not and, if it is, that it gets changed. The supporters need a bank of seats going upwards, not six rows interrupted with some gap.
Well that is my critique of the whole stadium from the beginning. But I was met with "but otherwise people will have to climb up then climb down!" And it would cost more. Unnecessarily puts more people farther away from the action while at the same time people moving around in front of everyone (inevitably during the game). But meh, we're getting a stadium.
It's not that people necessarily disagreed with what you are saying, but, were just offering up the reasons why the Quakes took the approach they did regarding stadium design. Lew and the Quakes can say all they want about the uniqueness of having suites at the field level, but, we all know the main reason was cost. It's a lot easier and cheaper to build seats 40 feet off the ground than it is to hang luxury boxes.
Actually, QT made some excellent points. I would have rather seen a stadium designed more in the manner he described. It just wasn't within our budget.
I just took "Our owners are cheap" attitude early on and thought it nausiating that others kept suggesting shit that would never fly in a low-ball stadium effort. Yes, stairs coming from the top down and from the bottom up would be really great, but to keep banging the proverbial head against the wall suggesting things that will probably end up at the 49er stadium, but had a snowball's chance in ours... well
