    - At the north stands, work is starting on the new field-level seating.
    - In the south stands, the main concourse concessions are nearing completion.
    - The vertical beams in the Veil behind the south stands are installed and are being fine-tuned so they are exactly aligned for the placement of the horizontal beams and upper pieces in the New Year.

The field side of the south stands is covered with tarps to protect the finishing work inside at the concessions and suite level. The media box at the top of the stands has been enclosed with exterior sheathing

At the south stands, the new staircase is in place, and the vertical beams of the Veil wrap around the building

Smaller pieces for bracing the main, vertical beams of the Veil are now being installed

Ottawa landmark Lansdowne Park to be renamed
TD Bank set to take over naming rights at facility
Don Campbell, Ottawa Citizen January 6, 2014

Ottawa’s new sports and entertainment complex is about to take on a new name.

Lansdowne Park is expected to be renamed TD Place when it reopens in 2014, the Citizen has learned, after the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group reached an agreement on naming rights for the entire facility with the TD Bank Group.

The agreement will pay OSEG an annual fee — said to be in seven figures — which will also allow for a full service TD banking centre at Lansdowne.

The refurbished stadium/arena combination on the grounds will be home to the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa Redblacks, the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s and the North American Soccer League franchise Ottawa Fury FC.

The Redblacks are set to return Ottawa to the CFL for the 2014 season, with their first home game coming in late July or early August. The Fury will open its 2014 spring schedule at Carleton University while the construction project is completed, then switch over in the summer.

The 67’s, meanwhile, will return to a renovated Civic Centre for the 2014-15 season after two years at the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata.

The deal re-establishes a major Canadian bank as the marquee sponsor of a sports complex in the capital after a one-year hiatus. Last summer the Ottawa Senators opted out of their contract with Scotiabank, which held the naming rights at CTC prior to this season.

The new Lansdowne agreement also allows the Bank of Montreal to establish a smaller banking centre on the grounds.

The rebuilding of the complex has been in the works since 2008, when former 67’s owner and now president of sports for OSEG Jeff Hunt made public his wish to return pro football to the city. Obtaining a CFL franchise was contingent on the stadium undergoing massive upgrades.

That fall, the OSEG consortium met with the city to hash out a plan to redevelop Lansdowne Park, rebuild the stadium and add commercial, retail and residential space.

City council approved a plan in 2010 and, after a lengthy legal battle with opponents of the redevelopment, the project finally went ahead in 2012.

A formal announcement of the naming rights deal could come as early as this week.

    OSEG officials declined to comment.

    - At the north stands, the contractor is pouring the concrete foundations for the new field-level seating
    - Work continues to install the new roof over the arena
    - At the south stands, brackets that will support the horizontal beams of the wooden structure that wraps around the stands, called ‘the Veil’, are now being installed
    - Tiling in the washrooms in the future locker rooms in the basement level has started
    - Building the suites and finishing concessions on the upper levels continues
    - Exterior cladding is being installed on the media box at the top level of the stands

The stadium when viewed from Bank Street and the Rideau Canal continues to take shape

It is official that TD place stadium will open by hosting a weekend double header.
On friday july 18th the Redblacks open the stadium on CFLs friday night football
Sunday the 20th the Fury will host the New York Cosmos

OSEG is offering a package deal for tickets to both games.
There has also been some adjustments to the NASL schedule moving games from sat to SUN afternoon part of more weekend DoubleHeaders with the CFLL playing on that Friday before the Sunday NASL games

Weekend package deals for two of OSEG franchises is synergy at its best

Tour shows progress at Lansdowne park rebuild
Mayor says construction on time to open TD Place for CFL
Doug Hempstead, Ottawa Sun April 29, 2014

    There are no contingency plans.

The mayor, councillors and planners are "extremely confident" Lansdowne Park will be ready in time for summer football. Jim Watson made the statement as he led a group of reporters on a tour of the bustling construction site -- currently home to 1,100 workers.

The mayor says much has changed in the month since he last set foot on the property -- and even more since the last time he led a bus tour back in November.

"We've been working towards July 18th and there's no fallback position, for the simple reason that the game has been slated by the CFL and we'll meet the deadline. No Plan B. Plan B is July 18th as well," he said.

"It's amazing how much has been done in just the last month."

Of note, a pedestrian overpass bridge was added Monday.

Tuesday marked the ceremonial planting of the first of 800 trees which will grace the once-desolate, asphalt Glebe eyesore. The "great lawn" green space will be about as large as the front lawn on Parliament Hill.

The mayor and planners don't expect the property to be open to the public before July 18, in fact -- the urban park area won't be ready until August.

"Acres and acres of green space," Watson said. "Finally the park is being put back into Lansdowne Park."

The mayor, a football fan, seems equally thrilled about the prospect of taking advantage of the stadium's suitability for extra seating -- around 43,000 total -- by hosting an NHL Heritage Classic outdoor game featuring the Senators and Montreal Canadiens.

"I met with the NHL and the Senators on this," he said. "It would be a dream come true, especially in 2017 because in December 1917, we had the first-ever NHL hockey in Ottawa between Montreal and Ottawa."

The stadium seating is in the process of being installed -- some slightly staggered and in varying colours so the stands always look like they're filled. Below the south-side stands is where the RedBlacks and Fury dressing rooms are being worked on. The press booth runs along the top of the south-side stands, where planners say work has already began by broadcasters to test camera angles and sight lines for football and soccer games.

Matches and games will be played on artificial turf.

All of the retail and residential buildings are completed apart from interiors and final exterior finishes.

One thing that I find slightly odd is that they are landscaping the area behind the ends for seating, but leaving it as grass.

When its time for temporary expansion, I wonder if they will use generic stands, or will they have custom fitted structures of some kind to sit on top of the surface(a lack of piles/foundation suggest not). What It seems like they will do is add permanent seats there at a later date, but that seems like a strange thing to do.

The stadium will be able to be expanded to 40K capacity but you are right they really have not given any indication about how that may be done in the future.
Also, unlike in Hamilton, they have yet to figure out what other kinds of activities could be going on in the end zone areas ( Hamilton has the Coors Light Patio and the seagrans Lounge)
Also in the one end zone in Ottawa there is a berm of grass. Are they planning on having standing room only space for sitting on the berm?
