And we can still put F.C. behind it Miami Athletics F.C. If you notice in Argentina, almost all the clubs have C.A. in front of it. Club Atletico Boca Juniors Club Atletico River Plate Club Atletico Independiente ect so we dont need to stick to one word, you feel me?
Bro you can do a lot of things Miami Athletic Football Club Miami Atheltic Club Miami Union Atheltic Club Miami Union Football Club Football Club Miami Union Football Club Miami Atheltic Athletic Soccer Club Miami has anyone considered Sporting Miami or Miami Sporting Miami Sporting Athletic Club Miami Sporting Football Club Athletic Club Miami Sporting Just imagine the possible combinations like i keep saying. FC, AC, ECT are all plausable suffix/prefix for the entire name all together! Miami F.C. or F.C. Miami? (too plain!)
So its okay to use Union even if Philly uses it, but its not okay to use United because DC uses it??? Im not saying I would want Miami or Philly to use United. But I have seen some people say a team shouldnt use United because its copying DC. United FC Miami(if Miami FC merges with the MLS Side) Miami United FC(SAME) Or use SC instead of FC. Actually using United would be more appropriate for Miami, if there is a merger of them and Miami FC.
My opinion s that United be thrown out because of D.C. and if Philly ends up with Union than Miami will have to use another name. Miami FC will only be able to object to using that name if its only used as "Miami F.C." The F.C. can be added to any name as long as it does not stand as the sole name.
I would be against Union, if Philly uses it, I wouldnt be against the use of United, if and only if Miami FC USL merges with Miami MLS. Yeah, I am aware of that.
You have been in Trailerhassee way too long if that is your attitude. The this is America where it should be english only attitude is ridiculous. It has never been english only in America. There have alwys been people speaking other languages in America and it will always be like that.
1. The very well-educated people of Tallahassee would resent that "Trailerhassee". I haven't seen a single trailer here. 2. There's never been a single language in any given country, but any given country will have it's language, and that is the dominant language. Respect that. 3. This issue's already been resolved, because, the problem isn't speaking Spanish... the problem had to do with discrimination, but since it was clarified that the name proposed is Athletics/Atletico, it's a moot point altogether.
1. I think you need to get out and explore a little more in Leon county then. There are tons out there and many FSU students live in them for cheap housing. 2. Wrong. Look into it a little more. 3. Really, a team name in Spanish is discrimination? Who is it discriminating against?
1. We're talking about Tallahassee, not Leon County. 2. What I said was the honest truth, which supported your point - diversity in languages. Nonetheless, to be Mr. Contrarian... 3. Discrimination against those who don't speak Spanish, if the team insisted on catering and pandering to hispanics. 4. I don't see what your issue with anything I'm saying is considering this is a moot point.
I really doubt a name will keep people away from a game. If thats what keeps them away I doubt they ever really would have gone in the first place. Does having the other Miami teams names in English discriminate against Spanish or Creole speakers?
Not when you leave in an English-speaking country. Let's not pretend this takes place in a vacuum or that America has no established language deserving of respect. Now, I won't debate a moot point any more. This has been done, and clarified.
I think we will need agree to disagree. America is an ever evolving country and that inlcudes language. Besides Miami already had a pro team with a Spanish name. Anyone remember the Sol of the WNBA? I don't think anyone ran around calling them the Sun.
Then America is an ultra-malleable "nothing" to you. Your concept of nationhood isn't a nationhood at all. The Sol wasn't targeted at hispanics... it's name was used for catchiness, not targeting and building a team for hispanics... again, if you built a team for blacks in a professional league, there would be an uproar, even moreso if you came up with a team for whites. Miami Athletics/Atletico can both target the hispanic community so easy to gain support from and stay wide open to all. I'm getting out of this discussion now because the conversation's already been had, and exhausted, and once again, is a moot point.
