Miami is pretty much deadset as 22nd team and if they stop at 24 I wonder if Minneapolis might be a solid pick over say St. Louis (lots of foot dragging) and the other spot going to either Atlanta or San Antonio. Though even if they don't get selected, with such a rich owner, USSF could start reorganizing and building up a proper 2nd division.
In either the Q&A session, or an interview post State of the League address, Garber said it was unlikely that they would be stopping at 24.
It all depends on interest, both from the market standpoint and the current owners standpoint. Take the NBA for example, there is interest from the market perspective to add more NBA teams, but the owners don't want to reduce their share of the TV revenue from 1/31 (30 teams + the Silnas) to 1/33. The same is true of the MLB and NFL owners.
After Orlando, Miami, and Atlanta, apparently. But still number one. Oddly, this person has not been seen since.
Technically, he meant that NOLA is #1 in the hearts and minds of the masses. I mean, look at the grass roots efforts pushing for MLS in the Big Easy. The impending wave of public support is imminent, with Tishoudy riding a "hang ten" at the crest. Just wait.......(crickets- actually, lonely jazz saxophone playing) Disclaimer- I do love NOLA; spent 3 years in Louisiana.
Everybody loves NOLA. I just don't see an MLS team there any time soon. Maybe if San Antonio had succeeded at stealing the Saints, it might've worked. But that ship's long since sailed. (And likewise, if they had, MLS in San Antonio would be that much harder for them.) If someone really, desperately wants this, they'll probably have to go the minor league route.
@panicfc Tonight at the Olimpia vs Real Espana game in Tad Gormley. La Ultra Fiel came out to support.
When Pavon and Costly play on the same team at the same time against Olimpia, you're surely to grab a crowd down here.
It was a great crowd and a fun game. When Olimpia scored i enjoyed the Ultras storming the track. Easily 10k+
Pretty cool. == The Gamblers played there in 1997. The stadium also housed the US Track and Field championships in 1992 and 1996 (I think that is right).
11/20/13: BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! 2/5/14: BZZZZZZZZZ.........(sort of) 4/16/14: BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! That's two and a half expansion teams in before #1 New Orleans.
