I don't really understand the fascination with a game-day program particularly in the modern era (I mean the team just launched a podcast and communicates everything via facebook/google+/twitter) and yet they are launching a Matchday program- . Does anyone collect or want to collect these? Why? I mean besides the prizes.
I enjoy reading them - and believe it or not, very few people who go to United games log on to bigsoccer, or listen to United podcasts.
I'm sure they'll be invaluable in the first few months when we are all like "Who the hell is #whatever new guy" as we watch them warm up. They tend not to hear us yell "Hey #whatever, what's your name?" from the stands, though it works for reserve matches since we're closer to the field. And then if you're me, you can't remember that Quavas Kirk is #5, no matter how many times people tell you during the game so a program would have been really handy.
I always take the programs and give them to co-workers kids, to get/keep them interested in DC United. Quite a few families from my office have gone to matches after I gave them some "give-away" goodies. The programs are a nice touch, IMHO.
