hey guys - on the subject of new chants, i have one suggestion.

Now, i don't want to piss anyone off, BUT, is it at all possible for us to do all of our chants in English? I for one, have no idea what is being said when the chants in spanish are going on. Not to mention, i've noticed that more than half of the people in ESC are standing quietly while they are going on, probably because they don't (1) understand what is being said, (2) don't speak spanish, or (3) simply don't want to participate.

If we want to get the most out of EVERYONE standing in ESC, then we should do our chants in the language that all of us know. The more people participating in our chants, means ESC will sound even louder then we already do now!

    just my two cents
    Thanks

    Honestly, f*** that.

ESC has been doing both Spanish and English for YEARS. I ain't pissing that tradition away. I am not a native Spanish speaker either, but I put forth the effort to learn and be a part of 101 since I started standing with the ESC back in 98.

If a chant/song is in another language and you can't sing it, there isn't a reason why you can't jump/pogo/clap along.

    That is all.

The chants in spanish aren't very complicated. It's basically just a couple of lines being repeated.

FACT. only a limited few are tough, several took a couple of yrs to learn, but I managed to do it.

I dunno, I took Spanish in high school for 4 yrs, 2 yrs at BC, but didn't pay much attention at all. After being in 101 since 1998, I think I've learned more Spanish singing in the section than in school. There are quite a few people in the section that really give it a shot in trying to be a part of what the ESC does in 101. Hats off to them for the effort.

Have to agree the Spanish songs weren't hard at all to learn with a little effort. And if you're interested in learning the words head over to metrofanatic.com Can find all the words to all the songs under the ESC section.

    And here's another example:

In the section, there's the guy with the mohawk. He's originally from the Balkans, doesn't speak a lick of Spanish, but gets involved when any of those songs start up. He tries his best and it looks like he's having a great time doing so.

    Effort.

F! That. My pals and I like to chant in any language. Most of us are Italian or Italian American so we like to incorporate the Italian language into what we do in our little section. So keep rockin those Spanish songs!!! They are great, I am very proud to know them, and they only take 5 minutes to learn. Give it a shot!

I am going to start singing songs in Hebrew and see if those catch on. The Jewish/Israeli population of the Metro area is too large to not be represented at a RBNY match!!

Every time I go to a Macabi Tel-Aviv game, I learn something new. It would be a shameful act if I were to continue to withold such knowledge from others that are "of Metro."

It was in Borough Park in the 50s, but they moved it to Flatbush in the late 80s.

In all seriousness, though - I think a song that would be appropriate would be Andrew WK's "Party Hard."

He doesn't sing...he yells/chants. He is pure energy. His music is pop-metal that sounds like it is written and performed by drunk, masochistic hooligans.

When it's time to party we will party hard

    You,
You work all night (all night)
And when you work you don't feel all right
    And we,
When things stop feeling all right (all right)
    And everything is all right

'Cos we will never listen to your rules (no)
We will never do as others do
    (no)
Know what we want and we get it from you
Do what we like and we like what we do

So let's get a party going (let's get a party going)
Now it's time to party and we'll party hard (party hard)
Let's get a party going (let's get a party going)
When it's time to party we will always party hard
Party hard (party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard...)

    All right
    You,
    You fight that fight
And when you're fightin' you feel all right
    But when,
When things stop feeling all right (all right)
    And everything is all right

'Cos we will never listen to your rules (no)
We will never do as others do
    (no)
Know what we want and we get it from you
We do what we like and we like what we do

So let's get a party going (let's get a party going)
Now it's time to party and we'll party hard (party hard)
Let's get a party going (let's get a party going)
When it's time to party we will always party hard
Party hard (party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard...)

Not sure we'll see too much of him on the field anymore, but "Ubiparipovic" fits perfectly for a conga line.

Also, any of you poets want to take on the rickroll song? I'd link to it, but, . . .

Its nothing that will blow anyones socks off, but here you go.......

To the tune of "Louie Louie" by The Kingsmen

    Woly Woly!
    Oh OH!
    We've got John Wolyniec
    Aye-yi-yi-yi!

    Woly Woly!
    Oh OH!
    We've got John Wolyniec
    Aye-yi-yi-yi!

this might be a good one for when he scores, or when he gets subbed into the game.
