I think the first league to have "Captains" pick their team at the all star game was the WPS in 2010. Since then I think the NHL (2011) and NFL (2014) have both done it.
The Red Sox do not have a official team/mlb licensed shirt with a skull on it. And if you look at the Sons of Ben skull stuff, they ripped it off from Sons of Anarchy.
I'm just youtubing for inspiration; found this and at 1:06, and all I could think about was how that chant was made for Khano Smith.
Those are fantastic. Upbeat choruses everyone knows with funny lyrics. Keep it simple and irreverent.
Rowe, Rowe, Rowe the ball Gently down the field Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily Revs will win the Shield
A couple of weeks ago when the only smack we could come up with for Houston was "Yeah? Well we're still within our budget, so there!" (since that's what our onwnership values more than silverware). It made me think of this, to the tune of "Guantanamera" (or "There's only ONE ________") We're still under budget, Still under budget Stiiill under buuuuud-get Still under budget
How is an easy one for a game where the Revs play a team that has won MLS Cup: We save money while you win cups doo dah
Yeah, I can see sitting behind the visiting team bench and taunting their players in a "Homer Simpson" type voice: "HA! Whadda buch of looooosers you guys are! You can win all the MLS Cups you want, but how's your budget look, suckas! Bottom line, baby! That's all that matters! Woo-Hoo!" So I guess Alan is not going to offer me his seats any time soon, huh?
JoeGrav, Seamus and I are familiar with "Mood Mambo" by the Boomtown Rats. I can't find it on YouTube, but the chorus is the Imbongo song I sing when he comes on as a sub. (Sorry the no one else will get this). We go Imbo-o-o-ongo crazy. Crazy Imbongo. This. This. 100x this.
Thanks for the feedback - so next time you have a bad case of insomnia (as I had when I wrote these), start thinking of new revs chants.
To the tune of Red Solo Cup... MLS Cup I'll give you up To save some money! Stay under budget! I want you but- MLS Cup I'll give you up Can't have my money So sorry, honey 0:31
This is the direction we need to go, IMO. Less songs with complicated lyrics that are hard for new(er) fans to pick up on, and more songs/chants that are simple and easy to learn.
We need to go in the opposite direction and stop with the uncomplicated inctedibly lame chants like "I Believe." They need to be clever, funny and easy to learn but reactive to the events on the field.
Stolen from Crystal Palace, but let's be honest, no one can hear them anyway. Tweaked it a bit. (I Fought the Law - Bobby Fuller) We'll stand in the rain and we'll stand in the sun. We are 6 states; all one. We are 6 states; all one.
I love this but let's tweak it. Same first 2 lines but then How I waaant to see anotherrrrrrr Oh Lee Nguyen, please score again
How does that happen? Were there more before? What happened to them? I can see that we lost the "team of Matt Reis" chant, but where did the others go?
They all went to other teams in exchange for allocation money, so we got plenty of cash and chant spots right now, but unfortunately we cant find a solid, well established chants because veteran chants would rather hang it up than come to the fort. We are trying though!
Back in the day we used to sing "I fought the law and the law won" when an opposing player got sent off. No need to change a thing with that.
Similarly, the "You can't do that!" chant when an opposing player draws a yellow. I've heard visiting SGs do that one.
