Yes, according to this. Just looked at the second kit again- not as bad. Still wish they would've inverted the blues on that one, but the end result is that the Fire will probably be in red a whole lot more, so I'm okay with it.

    Re: 2012 Jersey- Chicago Quakers

First year it hasn't been at least partially white. Remember back before 2003 it was always a combination of white and (thinner) blue stripes. In 2003 they went to go to a completely red and white scheme that lasted until 2010 when they added a little blue to the away jerseys.

Not really sure why they changed it to a blue stripe unless they designed the away jersey first and decided to make the home jersey match it. That said, I don't mind the blue stripe. Or the collar, though I usually don't like collars. I still sometimes wear my 1999 jersey to games, and that one has a collar.

As long as none of our players wear the collar up.

Do you think it would of looked better if there was no stipe and had a solid red jersey with the logo?

I like the new jersey with the blue stripe and the quaker oats logo on it. I think the away jersey in a big improvement from last couple away jersey we've had.

If we do get a third jersey and it's the Chicago flag jersey it will be the best MLS jersey by far.

Have to keep the stripe. It's been the defining element of a Fire jersey since the beginning, and no one else in the league uses it. I think some people see the white stripe as being part of the identity of the team. I don't think it has to stay white, so I'm ok with the change, but I'm surprised they didn't just put the Quaker logo and name in blue on a white stripe.

I'm curious to actually see them in person, though, because you can see some interesting detail in the lower left and lower right sides of the jersey in the mockup if you look at it closely.

I'm liking both of them. Can we begin already? I'm ready for the season.

There wasn't any blue in the 1998 stripe.

1998 had no blue, and it's hard to think of the navy trim for the white stripes on the other Nike shirts (99-03) as anything other than detail.

This is Andrew Hauptman putting his stamp on the club's look, I think; no matter if it follows tradition or the fans like it or not.

Galaxy fan coming in peace. I really like the new jerseys. I read throughout the posts and a lot of you are complaining about the white stripe. I totally understand, the Galaxy went through pretty much a whole rebranding, new colors, new crests, new mascot when Becks came over. I've always been fond of the Fire, and of the jersey, I think that the new ones definitely continue the tradition of classy jerseys.

    Re: 2012 Jersey- Chicago Quakers

Yeah, I was thinking of '99, which is the one I own . . . recent years have trained my brain to think in 2-year cycles for MLS jerseys. I always forget they changed them slightly for '99.

The thinner blue line from 2000-02 was pretty significant. Much more than the trim from the '99 jerseys.

The club actually to the fans by designing a non-white away jersey incorporating the flag elements. It looks to me like after they did that, they decided they wanted the home jersey to tie in thematically, so they changed the stripe to the dark blue of the away jersey.

The Away kit is nice but a bit....much. Still nice tho. Maybe pick that one up later on.

I like the color schemes, but the Quaker guy kills it for me. It's like if bimbo would have put the little bear on the Philly jersey.

I don't have any problem with the sponsor... or the collar.

The only thing that really bothers me is the stripe being navy and not straight across. But those are pretty big things.

Its ok if the jersey sometimes is a bit different than normal. It's only 2 years unless they really require a new home top next year.

A lot of people probably like the top before the most recent one (Best Buy top).
It was a bland style with awful material and the most awkward uncomfortable collar.
But hey, it had a white stripe. Whooo hooo.

I like both. I just don't like the alternate one as a Fire jersey.

    I'm with you on that.

If you just showed me the jersey, I'd say they look great! But when you tell me they are Fire jersey's, then the stripe HAS to be white. Go crazy on the second or third jerseys, but leave the primary relatively stable.

That was my initial reaction but it has already grown on me. Actually seeing it for awhile on Cory Gibbs in that video, I think it looks fantastic.

The rugby team I support (Munster) went from red and white to red and dark blue, very similar to ours (although without the stripe). They are also Adidas. I'm wondering if that is where they got the idea.

Not as drastic without the stripe, but I really liked the change this year when they did this and it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the new home shirt.
