Who are the English champions? Who won the English championship? Two questions that sound identical but refer to two different divisions of the English footballing pyramid. Then there is the National champion via a cup. Such is association football in its birth land.
That's crazy. Reminds me of this: Lech Poznan supporters show up for a youth game against the Tottenham academy. I don't remeber where I first saw this now. Might have been here.
Here in england it has always been about amount of noise more than visual effects like the rest of europe. Although heavy policing over the last decade or two has dampened the support a bit. There is still good support though. Here's some pictures and videos of stoke supporters. http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01731/potty_1731123a.jpg
Nobody knows yet. One thing is for sure there is a major remix going on. The backroom staff have all been sacked too to make way for the new manager. Three main contenders are rafa benitez, roberto di mateo or roberto martinez. It is quite clear a change in style is the main aim of all this.
It would be great if Stoke City can keep their defense, and build a more creative offense. Martinez is a bit over-rated, but Benitez and di Matteo would be great. I don't know what that would mean for the young Brek Shea. I've watched around half of your matches and have grown fond of The Potters.
unlikely but not out of bounds I dont think. I agree with you on martinez, he has no defensive mindset at all. On shea, I think this is the reason for a change in manager. We have a few really talented young players who pulis would never have played, because he didnt trust them. Good move for shea in my opinion. Oh and feel free to pop over to our board if you want: WWW. Oatcakefanzine.proboards.com We already have a small american fanbase on there too
I don't care who you are, if you love the beautiful game, today's UCL Final should feature some very attractive football. I'm stuck in OKC with little prospect of finding a watch party unfortunately.
CL final is going to clash with the Dynamo. I'm sure the English are thrilled that an all German final is going to be played at Wembley. Here's some nice info about Bayern's history during WWII http://sports.yahoo.com/news/soccer...y-embracing-its-anti-nazi-past-163605448.html
Dortmund had a half a million requests for tickets for Wimbley. Sort of puts the Dynamo crowd in LA for MLS Cup into perspective, huh? Of course, apples to oranges. Replace MLS Cup with CONCACAF Champions League Final, we would have had over a half million requests. ....whatever. I wish I knew how to do the eye-rolling smilee on the ipad.
I'm sure most of those people have never even gone to a game, they just heard final, London, wembley, I want in.
Dortmund is the highest attended team in Europe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_attendances_of_European_football_clubs
You don't have to go that far. 25,000 Tigres fans travel to an away game this past tournament. We have a looooong way to go, but at least everyone who's currently working on it can say "i was there at the beginning".
Eh, I'm the type of guy that's never satisfied. Why not 4 or 6 thousand? We can do better. Lets spend 2 seconds patting ourselves on the back and the other 58 seconds thinking about how we can do better. Not the other way around.
A lot of people didn't go second time around because they went the first time. Some of the people who went second time were actually first timers. Our next mls cup away game at a city not named LA will have 5K people shown up.
