So, Toronto is spending $120M Canadian ($108M US) to upgrade BMO Field. Suites, new concourses, retractable stands to convert to football (costing $30M), and a state-of-the-art hybrid grass surface. http://www.torontosun.com/2014/03/16/mlse-plans-to-spend-big-bucks-to-upgrade-bmo-field Add that to the $100M they spent on 3 player acquisitions this winter, it makes you wish Tim Leiweke were still with AEG...
More good press about Leiweke and Toronto in Grant Wahl's MLS Ambitions Ranking 2014... 1. TORONTO FC (10 in 2013; 5 in 2012) It all starts with Leiweke and the blockbuster signings of Defoe and Bradley, who are set to make their TFC debuts on Saturday against Seattle (4:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN). MLSE has never been afraid to spend money on TFC — though not on this level — but competence has always been the problem. Not so with Leiweke, who has a track record of backing up his big bets. Besides proposing a $108 million expansion of BMO Field, MLSE has already built a $19 million training facility and academy for TFC, the league’s most expensive. New GM Tim Bezbatchenko, a numbers-cruncher, has also brought in an entirely new analytics department. Is it any wonder that TFC’s season ticket sales have shot up to 17,000 this season? That’s No. 2 in MLS behind only … (Seattle Sounders, #2 in his ranking) The whole ranking article is good.... http://soccer.si.com/2014/03/14/2014-mls-ambition-rankings-toronto-fc-leiweke-bradley-defoe-dempsey/
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ubway-token-inspired-logo-heavy-nyc-influence damn that's a nice crest. Look out folks-although it won't be a primary color, it looks like we have another orange team in the league. I wouldn't be surprised if their third is orange. Metro had an orange third jersey, well in truth it was a one off, but it was nice.
Yea I was thinking yesterday how furious I'm gonna be when they wear an orange jersey. A black with orange fuking jersey. This actually pissed me off so bad yesterday that I didn't post about it. Logging off now.
well, I bleed orange. But that could be because I am a NYer-it is their color after all. They had dibs on it way before us blame the Dutch
This would suck. Not only because they're orange, but because they're nicer than our kits. We can't let them out-orange us!
One Dynamo, I forget who it was, tweeted about that while it was happening, but at the time I didn't know what he was talking about. He just asked if anybody else was hearing what he was hearing a sexy chick moaning.
You gotta be fuking kidding me. This is so fuking stupid. Goddammit. I'm seriously so pissed right now. I fuking hate that team so much now. Maybe more than SKC. Edit: and two stars???? Gtfoutta here with that shit.
Seriously, are they not doing the whole man city light blue thing? Those are some beautiful kits right there but I will still be mad if they decide to wear orange too. I'm also noticing that it says "third" in between the jerseys though...... Why do they have stars? And don't tell me it's because of some NASL crap before mls was around. (Also don't tell me that those stars have anything to do with 9/11)
It isn't official, but it was a concept for a 3rd kit. With the new crest containing orange, it my be safe to assume that they just might have that orange alternate kit. However, the dominant color on our crest is black and we've never used it on an official uniform. So maybe not.
A really good story about NER and the Krafts, from Boston Magazine... http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/article/2014/03/25/bob-kraft-worst-owner-new-england-revolution/
That was for their home finale last year. If you follow attendance closely, you'll notice some of the older and more poorly run FOs like to end the year on a high note. NE has been known to push a lot of their giveaways and special event nights to the end of the year. Columbus also employs this tactic (more due to tOSU being back in session in the Fall; as the capacity at Crew Stadium has dropped, they've moved away from it slightly).
Man, that article really makes me feel for Revs fans. Everyone knows their situation, but that piece really puts things into perspective. Just read the comments. Glad to have the FO that we do. Although we don't spend heavy cash, we have everything a fan could want.
great read-but I have no sympathy for them. F#$@ them. It must chap their asses that us "Mexicans that should mow their yards" (or so they told us before MLS Cup in Dallas) have a pretty little place in downtown while they play in Providence in a throwball stadium with a lighthouse. jajajajaaja' Have fun in the snow and thanks for the Cups you schmucks. I remember to thank Jay for that divot every time he walks by me for our matches.
worst owners in MLS...congrats Kraft Family and the New England Revs... http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/article/2014/03/25/bob-kraft-worst-owner-new-england-revolution/
