I think they were singing "Jose, Jose, Jose" for Jose Reyes.

I heard the same thing, but 'Ole' was replaced with 'Jose' at some point in the song for Jose Reyes' at bats.

They've played the actual song a few times at nationals games, the baseball stoops still sat on their thumbs, as usual.

:p Certainly not the excitement that the TA or EB supporters bring to the game! :D

Funny you mention this, but I was watching the New Jersey Devils hockey game last night, and after a goal was scored, I heard the Ole Ole song from the stadium sound system! I was shocked.

The paid cheering section at the Rockets-Bucks game sang "Yao Ming..." to the same tune as well.

The first time I heard this song was in the streets of Pasadena during World Cup '94. Does anyone know what the origin of the song is?

I believe that US Soccer put out a promotional CD called "Soccer Rocks the Globe" just prior to the '94 WC. This is where this song made it's first appearance on media. it may have been sung before, but gained popularity during the '94 WC and early days of MLS (at least in this country). The CD was actually featured on a Futbol Mudial piece way back then and features a Hall and Oates track (significant at the time since they had done any new recordings for the three previous years and were rumored to have broken up). Yes- I am a plethora of worthless knowledge.

I was in Italy in for the World Cup in 1990 and went and saw Argentina play and the Argentinian fans were singing "Ole, Ole, Ole Ole....Diego...Diego" for Maradona.

By the way, I heard that chant last night and it was embarassing. All of the music and sound effects were embarrassing.
