Whilst (note the very British term) you might think it appropriate that a thread dedicated to the Mexican Football League is appropriate, I would opine that this is a forum dedicated to the 2 time MLS Champion team Houston Dynamo. At the risk of being sanctioned by a moderator for having an opinion which might very well offend individuals who favor, or have some allegiance to teams in Central or South America, might I respectfully suggest that the appropriate forum for such a thread would exist outside of forums dedicated to MLS teams. (this post was made under the influence of 4 Jamesons)
People here grew up watching the Mexican league due to the large amount of games shown. I know that without the Mexican league, I would've never fallen in love with the Dynamo. That league introduced me to soccer. :-/
Although hard to believe now, from 2006 to 20--- our Houston Dynamos team boards were some of the most readable on Big Soccer. Partly because a good portion of our fan base grew up watching football in different countries or watching different leagues. Some of us even adopted Blackpool on a lark due to a BBC8 (The Ocho) program that made fun of MLS teams and suggested to British fans to adopt a team in the scrappy MLS. I spent countless nights getting inebriated at the Mezz listening to Anderson explain to me over and over again how the Brazilian State leagues worked (still couldn't tell you), heard too many Offenbach Kickers tragedies, and Celtic fans who tried to unsuccessfully reason that the SPL's tournament structure made sense. My point is an open-minded, inquisitive football fan is a more knowledgeable football fan while the opposite is.....well, Seattle fans. I don't think we should stop at the BBVA Bancomer Liga MX thread and I would encourage someone, anyone to start a Central American League thread or a Jupiler League thread. I would read all of them.
Forget to add: the BBVA Bancomer Liga MX probably has the largest number of US players playing significant minutes outside of MLS. No coincidence that the success of Hercules Gomez, Gringo Torres, Xolos has recently peaked the interest of US fans. These boards were way ahead of the rest of the soccer hipsters mostly due to our Pachuca games.
I will. You might be interested to know that using my considerable influence with AEG, Golden Boy, Brenner, Houston Dynamo Football Club etc etc, I have recommended that next years Dynamo Charities Cup be between the Dynamo and AS Monaco FC
Most of you know me already... but my Pumas/Liga MX coverage has grown. I've been working with the Pumas organization and am hoping to have continuous regular coverage of the Pumas (in English). With that being said, there are several recent posts - but this is new today. After last night's embarrassing 4-1 loss to Club America, Pumas fired head coach Antonio Torres Servin. Here's my latest on the Pumas disastrous season. http://www.ordinaryorangefan.com/20...a-clasico-capitalino-torres-servin-fired.html I appreciate you reading. Help spread the word to other Pumas or Liga MX fans. On Twitter, you can find me @OrangeFanBlog. Thanks all.
Two very good match ups tonight on Unimas, and then Telemundo. Toluca v America right now, and then Club Leon v Santos. This should be pretty good football.
I was looking forward to Santos making it back to the Copa and no less against America. Leon was just too tough. Amierda Yellow Birds should be champs but I would love an upset! VAMOS LEON!
The first leg of the LigaMX Final will begin at 8pm. Leon v Club America. It will be a cracker of a match. Telemundo.
First, it was Tijuana winning their 1st title in just their 2nd year in Liga MX and now Leon is about 90 minutes away to do the same. These newly-promoted clubs are taking over.
The Black Lions are on a goal scoring run. The Americanistas have a tough job ahead of them. The final is about to start on Univision.
Leon wins 3-1 (5-1 on aggregate) Congratulations Leon. The BSMX thread on the match is Hilarious. Never thought there was alot of America Haters.
Yup! America and more specifically Americanistas/their fanbase are a polarizing lot. Basically like how Cowgirls fans are viewed around our nation.
