The first twenty minutes of that game was about as one-sided as you'll ever see when two quality sides play. It could have been 3-0 within that span.

All hail Veetle. Watching while you "work" is awesome.

Anybody who didn't watch the CSKA-Inter game do yourself a favor and don't. One of the worst matches of all time.

Akinfeev had some pretty amazing saves though.

It was basically target practice out there. No one on CSKA wanted to play defense. And CSKA played the some of the worst couner attacking football of all time. They were lucky that game wasn't 6-0.

Does anyone look more quintessentially French than Franck Ribery? You look at this man's face and it says "I am French".

Forza Nerazzurri! Wesley Sneijder shakes off a practice field knock and sends Internazionale through, 2-0 agg.

Now let's all hope this Barcenal match lives up to the hype. Should be a good one.

That was unreal. And he was less than half a step slow from getting a fourth.

Rooney starting for Manchester United after all. . .

Edit: . . . and promptly sets up a goal. Followed by a second from Nani. Two goals in the first 7 minutes. Bayern looks utterly disinterested in playing soccer.

Bordeaux just scored right before the half. Now down 2:3 on aggregate, and ahead 1:0 on away goals. The second halves in both matches are going to be insane! :D

A game like that (Man U, Bayern) deserves to be settled on a goal of such high quality.

And, if you must get sent off and possibly cost your team the match, make it a foul that is necessary. Dumb.

That Robben goal was pure beauty.

Of course Sir Alex being his own typical a-hole self after the match. In a post-match interview, he blamed the referee for sending off an "inexperienced boy" and costing the better side the match.

    "Typical Germans," he said.

Of course, we wouldn't want to blame Sir Alex for putting an inexperienced boy on the field for a EUFA quarterfinal.

I think I'm going to start calling him Maam Alex.

And it wasn't as if both of Rafael's fouls weren't obvious bookings from every conceivable angle or anything.

I can't wait to hear BayernWake's take on this match . . . and the "typical Germans" comment, too. ;)

    Dude, I am still buzzing.

I loved the Man U fans taunting Robben throughout the match. As if he did anything to them. And then their silence after Olic scored the 3-1. The whole second half all you heard in the crowd was Bayern fans chanting "AUF GEHT'S BAYERN, SCHIEßT EIN TOOOOOOOOOOR." Marvelous.

Nani acted like a huge bitch throughout the whole game. His first goal was amazing, but I still don't respect him.

Robben, however...I'm going to take estrogen pills and have a uterus implant so I can bear his children.

I've only supported Bayern since 2002, so this is the first time I've ever seen them in a CL semi-final. A strange and crazy feeling.

As for Ferguson, f--- him. Biggest sore loser in soccer. Moreover, half our players aren't even German. Idiot. As if his own players never rushed the ref and complained.

As for the semi-final (currently watching the French match, no spoilers!)...I'm not overly confident. But it seems we may have fate on our side!

Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds

In 2005, Volker Roth, the chairman of the UEFA Referee committee called Jose Morinho, an "enemy of football" for basically goading his team and his fans into assaulting Anders Frisk, a talented referee, who committed the very real crime of calling fouls against Chelsea. For this trangression Frisk received death threats and quit his job.

Mr. Roth is going to have to come up with something better to call SAF, who is without question the biggest sore-loser in the history of the game. The fact that this jackass was knighted is a disgrace to an already disgraced monarchy.
