No Liverpool? No Juventus? No problem! February 16/March 10: Olympique Lyonnais - Real Madrid AC Milan - Manchester United February 17/March 9: FC Porto - Arsenal Bayern Munich - Fiorentina February 23/March 17: Stuttgart - Barcelona Olympiacos - Bordeaux February 24/March 16: Inter - Chelsea CSKA Moscow - Sevilla Some terrific match-ups, highlighted of course by José Mourinho returning to London to lead Internazionale in what will be an inevitable humbling of Chelsea. It really is too bad that Fiorentina had to go and win their group, because a match-up with Arsenal would have rounded-out nicely the EPL-Serie A 3-on-3 Challenge that UEFA always seems so hot for. My first blush picks, keeping in mind that I am on an insane hot-streak since predicting the second power-outage at HDC during the Western Conference Final: Real Madrid in a surprising squeaker over Lyon, advancing on away goals. 3-3 ManU crushes Milan. 5-1 Arsenal over Porto. 4-2 Fiorentina continues their wonder-run, advancing past Munich. 3-2 Barca over Stuttgart. 4-0 Bordeaux summons up that legendary French fighting spirit and downs Olympiacos on away goals. 2-2 Inter leaves a smoldering f'ing crater where Stamford Bridge used to be (if I keep saying Inter's going to beat Chelsea, I might just convince myself by match day that they will). 4-3 CSKA's Rick Steves Strategy (you know, Europe through the back door) fails against Sevilla. 3-2 Take it to the European Central Bank, which is located near the corner of Olentangy and High, in a dumpster behind the Giant Eagle.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds http://www.ilslaunch.com/dtv-12-mission-control On December 29th, at 7:22 PM, DirecTV will be launching a new satellite for their HD programming. FSC-HD should be ready to go in time for the next round of matches.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds Weird...I buy my groceries at that very Giant Eagle. Pretty good picks, though I think Milan and ManYoo will be closer than you think.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds Watch out for the darkhorse CSKA Moskva to do some heavy damage in the tournament.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds A trip to Moscow this time of year is no treat.....or any time of the year for that matter. I was hoping that Fiorentina would avoid the Bayern matchup but the return of Toni is intriguing (IF he plays, and IF he's still with Bayern at that time).
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds Fox is going to show the Champions League final. Not FSN. Not FSC. Not FX. Fox, and in HD. Edit: Just saw that drtrinidad already brought this up in the Time Warner thread. Sorry.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds The fact that the final is on a Saturday is going to blow away the 206 million that watched last years final. The US rating was going to be better because of the date as well but now that it's on broadcast television it could easily double last years.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds Since I don't have a dog in this race, I'll throw my support behind HuntKop's Fiorentina. Nice to see an name that's outside of the usual suspects make a run.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds Well, now we're screwed. Just kidding - hard to believe how different the Fiorentina form and results have been in the CL matches vs in Serie A. Things are pretty grim in the domestic table, but it should be fun to see what happens next vs Bayern.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds Heh....nah, it's all good. I wouldn't mind one of these scarves. If only Toni still played for us! Would be even more exciting.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds That Lyon-Madrid second leg is going to be something. So much for my away goals prediction, though.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds Just realized the Final is the same date as my son's 1yr birthday. I'll count this as his gift. I'm officially inviting all of you to the party and viewing. You can bring beer in lieu of presents... if any of you are in SC then.
Re: NCR: UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds Dear Arsene-- Welcome to Porto. Be sure to try the tripe. Sincerely, BG13 P.S. Don't ask the police for directions!
