Yesterday in the Chicago supporters meeting the topic of the Independent Supporters Council came up. The Crocketeers sent a representative and it looks like Ralphs mob is also a member. Any plans from any of the other NASL SGs planning on applying for membership? It is open to all divisions. The Detroit NPSL SG is a member. http://independentsupporterscouncil.com/isc-members/ https://www.facebook.com/IndependentSupportersCouncil There can be multiple supporters groups for 1 team, but they only get 1 vote.
an NASL SG has no reason to belong to the Independent Supporters Council, it's an MLS Supporters Group. I just don't see the point unless there is some benefit that would exist for the SG by paying dues, which I'm pretty sure is about being able to be patted on the butt by other MLS SGs.
It was started by MLS SG's, but they do try to encompass all issues with SG, basically traveling, merchandise, how to deal with the clubs while being independent, etc. True that not everyone agrees and would want to be a member, even MLS clubs "boycut" the ISC (well I think only the Montreal SG). There is also talk about allowing Women's Leagues SG into the group. I do agree with you that council topics in their yearly meetings are probably heavily tilted to MLS issues. But if more members of the lower leagues join, then more topics about lower level issues would make the agenda. Plus is not like it is some type of governing body, just a set up for SG's to communicate with each other and exchange ideas.
http://independentsupporterscouncil.com/isc-members/ Looking at their official membership list only 7 (6 if we exclude Orlando) teams are represented from outside MLS. Some teams have multiple members, but as I posted above, SG's only get 1 vote per team.
